Poor Rick ,he never did get the Slade / Noddy big royalty cheque every year that he eyed enviously
When it came out he said that the producer had chopped out "a few minutes of glorious headsdown nonsense in the middle "
Does an extended original version exist in the vaults ?
As for the song , for me it's very modern Quo.Sometimes I enjoy it a lot and sometimes I find it an embarrassment Oh well, there you go ๐ธ๐๐คข

I never liked it but, then again, I'm a bit bah humbug when it comes to Christmas music. Quo's is no worse or better than pretty much anyone else you hear when you're wandering round Tesco at this time of year. A full length version with "glorious headsdown nonsense"? Not sure it would fit because it's all very lightweight but it sounds like an improvement The producer was Pip Williams (I think) so he'd know if there was a 12" mega-version hidden away. To be honest, it could have been included on the CD release so I suspect there's nothing in the vaults.

I'm probably very much in the minority but I actually quite like that Rick/Rolf track. It has a bit more about it. As did Rolf, as we were about to find out

I quite Like It's christmas time; melody, guitars, I wonder if it wasn't about Christmas (I know it is difficult to imagine this song without the bells etc)..maybe would be a very decent quo song, Regarding Rolf & RIck, not my cup of tea

I like it quite a bit. Just listened to it ten minutes before coming here. One of Quo Lite's catchier numbers.

Locking away all my Gary Glitter records doesn't achieve anything, though if you get a virtuous feel from it - well fill your boots. His Christmas song is still on my playlist.

What does it achieve ? It achieves me not being sickened by listening to a child rapist singing. If I could listen to Glitter without thinking about what he's done I would ,but I can't. Given the intense grief any radio station gets for playing Glitter ,I'm clearly not alone. I do feel sorry for the Glitter band ,but none of us can help how we feel

Again though I don't know why people should be panned for making that disconnect and just listening to the music.

It's Christmas Time is great. Grows on you, like many later day Quo tracks. In fact, I think the major difference between the later Quo tracks and the lighter earlier tracks is that they lost the knack of immediacy. I find later stuff tends to grow on me.
Back to the point - It's Christmas Time needs to be taken with a pinch of salt and a barrel load of cheese, as intended. A couple of minutes of heads down stuff in the middle? Sounds like Rick was being a bit cheeky!
And the Rick/Rolf song is brilliant. Love it when Rick comes crashing in! Shame that Rolf's actions take the shine off (understatement).

I'm probably very much in the minority but I actually quite like that Rick/Rolf track. It has a bit more about it. As did Rolf, as we were about to find out Tie Me Kangeroo Down was a plea for help from a sexual deviant, the Kangeroo being Rolf's insatiable appetites.
