I actually found them quite funny back in the day. Not sure if I still would. That's a shame though. Didn't Eddie Large go the same way earlier in the year? Nuff just out of shot? RIP, Mr Ball

It’s easy to be sniffy about people like Cannon and Ball and their end of the pier Schtick, But the truth is in the early 80s As a kid I thought the were piss funny. It’s not my sense of humour now, but I do still like this Quo skit they did. Especially when he talks about Francis scratching his arm.
Anyone notice Francis’s reaction when Bobby calls them drug takers and Tommy says “they’re not....”
Little and large however were always about as funny as a burning orphanage. Quite how they got on tv and managed to remain on it for years and years is frankly baffling.

I think I remember that very clip! Saturday night break from Primary School and with friends. Or going over to friends to watch Saturday night ITV. (I'm not a "better in my day", I just can't get into current Game Show, Talent Show, Game Show current Saturday ITV) Probably teased my brother Status Quo were on the TV. That theme tune Cannon and Ball had. It wasn't a dread of it playing, more like a reassuring arm around the shoulder, "Things are normal, we've done our show. Goodnight! See you again!". I never saw properly Bobby Ball's comeback ("Not Going Out"?) but it was always a passing notion to catch their act if they toured nearby. Never did. It must be tough for his family, and hard on Tommy Cannon. Surviving when the other part of what you were associated with has gone. And yeah, they were a much better duo than Little & Large. I can barely remember much from either series (bar clip in opening post) but I don't seem to mind not remembering Little & Large as opposed to Cannon & Ball. And Boys In Blue! Yes... I think I went to see that! R.I.P. Bobby Ball.

The Cannon and Ball quote that bridsparegular mentioned...
"We have worked with Status Quo and would like to say they were absolutely average...But seriously, they are the only true Rock and Roll Band in the World today. Rock on Lads!"
Presumably a typo error rather than deliberate humour but the quote is credited to Bobby Cannon, Tommy Ball!
C and B started out working the clubs, much like Little and Large and much like Quo of course and other bands of a certain era. Then gradually getting some TV breaks. Have a vague memory of sometimes being allowed to watch the late night TV show 'The Wheeltappers and Shunters Club' as a youngster.
Again like Quo, both C and B and L and L had serious fall outs, hardly communicating before reunions eventually came along.
Would have been interesting to have seen Cannon and Ball on stage in their heyday. I happened to see Little and Large on stage in a club in the early 80s and had been surprised how hard they worked over a long show, working the audience and they could sing etc. TV didn't really show them at their best at times but they seemed at home in the club environment.

RIP Bobby. Funny clip with Quo! Just a shame they couldn’t have continued into a full version of Caroline....
