Gaz Very true, I often wonder what I'd be doing if fate had been different, one of the guys from Blessings is still performing around California so I could have been doing that or possibly followed my brother's example and become a teacher. I have done occasional university teaching in composition in Germany and Norway over the years. Certainly the move to Germany was the best thing I ever did. Musical freedom and the chance to work with some incredibly talented musicians. The car is a 55 Buick Roadmaster, almost the same vintage as me and an early birthday present to myself. I hope things with your mum are improving and the rest of the family are ok, especially your daughter. What a sensational car. A wonderful feeling taking it out on a cruise now and then.

@bluehighway I just watched Ronnie sing on that Kill The King video and was reminded again what an incredibly powerful voice he had.... truly gifted. Your spine must’ve been seriously tingling when you first heard his voice at full throttle.

Gaz Very true, I first heard him when we started rehearsing for the tour, we wanted a song that we all knew to break the ice so the first song the Rising line up ever played as a band was Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones. Ronnie really let rip and I still remember thinking what a ride it was going to be with a guy who could sing like that and Ritchie who played supremely back then. The last time I heard him sing live was in 2007 when we were recording a demo for a song called Realm of the Black Rose. He could still blow me away with his ability.

Ronnie was 68 when he recorded this one. The finest voice in Rock.

What a twist of fate you walked when in neighbouring studios your life changed. Ronnie appears the most gentle of souls with a mighty heart. You must feel genuinely blessed to have shared your lives.

Gaz spot on! Ronnie, once you were friends, was incredibly loyal and such a kind man, off stage he was such a quiet guy and very interested in all aspects of the arts. When I was undergoing very intense cancer treatment despite the time difference Ronnie phoned me in hospital every day, a kindness I returned when I was slowly recovering and Ronnie himself was in hospital undergoing treatment.
