May be a difficult question but has any other band released an album every year the way Quo did from 1968 to 1983 (16 original albums in a row). Must be a record surely?

I think that Frank Zappa, who I've never bothered with, produced shit loads of albums from 66 onwards...is he any good?

Zappa didn't quite match the target set, at least not whilst alive. Elton John I thought might have done, but not quite. Not even BB King.

I've got Frank Sinatra at 18 [1954-71]. But no bands I can think of - most don't last 16 years!
Edit: I should mention that Sinatra seems to have released 47 studio albums in those 18 years - mind you, he wasn't writing all the songs or playing all the instruments, the slacker!

Quo are possibly in a league of their own in that way. Queen had a fair run of albums. Elton John, as Dennis mentions, gets close to Quo's output of albums.
Come to think of it James Last knocked out an impressive number of albums to say the least!!

TD's first album wasn't released until 1970 but they were indeed prolific.

Googled and Deep Purple are on their twenty first! Quo at least made one more studio album than Genesis and Pink Floyd (15). Studio albums, right? I never felt compelled to look into this before. P.S. My brother loved Zappa and it wasn't osmosis growing up, but yeah he was a great guitarist but I just keep putting off listening further due to brother influence spoiling it.

Aye, but Purple only released albums every year for the first 8 years, 1968-75

Not for 16 years straight, but Buckethead seems to have released more than 300 studio albums. Some are very weird. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckethead_discographyThe Beach Boys released 19 studio albums in 12 years, for instance. But Quo run was a good run. There aren't many artists I know of that released so many albums consistently.

Jeez, Buckethead's discography is unbelievable! How does he get time to sleep? I still think Quo's run as a rock band is hard to beat.
