Only going by what it says on my album, John Mealing is an anagram of Andy Bown. As an anagram, it's rather liberal. In that case you could argue Anthony Lawrence C. played on it too. He did?

Thanks once again for your put down! I listen to Status Quo because I appreciate them (but of course that is the 1960's (yes I do appreciate the 60's recordings very much)/FF period only up to 1977,(thereafter it is an ever declining downward spiral, IN MY OPINION, and music i don't appreciate) Don't agree at all about Andy rescuing 'a lot of Quo recordings, particularly the four post WYW albums when let's just say the amount of Alan's bass in the final mix is not quite what it might be', but obviously you feel you know about this or are an expert to be able to discern this (!!). I am sure Alan would contradict your expertise or super ears. I do agree with Freewilly that "Andy. Kept his nose clean (not in that way) from all the internal issues in the band, made music, done the gigs, is a fantastic musician." and that he comes across as genuinely a gentle and considerate human being. In this interview however it is in my view that he is elevating his contribution and also that whilst he clearly appreciates and is grateful for the life and income playing with Quo gave him he does not really appreciate the Quo music that he played for 'them' (the fans) and views it as second rate compared to Pink Floyd etc., Playing with Quo appears not to have been his desire but only a job that paid when otherwise he probably would have struggled to continue to earn enough to live off music on his own. I was referring to articles/interviews with what you call side people, not your listening to Quo's music. I wouldn't describe myself as an expert on anything but after 46 or 47 years as a musician I know the odd thing. "I know the odd thing." Send us a PM with her address please blue.

It's not a pseudonym. Mealing was a member of the Strawbs at one point, amongst many other musical activities. Anyway, who'd create an alter ego that's even older than their real identity?!

Give me a bit more time please. Didn't want to claim you are always terrible at them, as I don't know this. But you'll have to admit that in that particular case your anagram of Andy Bown (John Mealing) was not great. So I had a go and the closest I came to an anagram of Andy Bown was "boy wand", which might be something out of a Harry Potter book.

If I was a politician I could say John Mealing is an anagram of Andy Bown if you take into account the underlying trend released in today's report that show that by 2023 Andy Bown will be on the way to being an economically sound alternative to John Mealing factoring in the Public Sector Borrowing Requirement and inflation linked to GNP outside of the EU but within the parameters of the Euro Zone....so there bollocks.

The thing is about AB is that he played piano brilliantly on 4500 Times. Have a really good listen as he shadows Rossi from 7:24 to the end of the song on the album version, fantastic playing from a top keyboard player. Would have been an ordinary track without him. Er... according to the credits that's not Andy playing on 'Forty-five Hundred Times', it's one John Mealing. You are correct about the credits , however there was an interview with Andy a few years ago where I think he said he did 4500 Times on Hello as he couldn’t believe how long you could hit a B for I’m half remembering that of course so I could be wrong !!!
