Er... according to the credits that's not Andy playing on 'Forty-five Hundred Times', it's one John Mealing. You are correct about the credits , however there was an interview with Andy a few years ago where I think he said he did 4500 Times on Hello as he couldn’t believe how long you could hit a B for I’m half remembering that of course so I could be wrong !!! I recall he might have been talking about playing it live in general. Or maybe it was about the Live! album, or the Charlie gig, by which time it was 20+ minutes!

Very interesting Bluehighway suggesting Alan may not be the only bass player on the albums following WYW. Not that surprising as we know he didn't play on Going downtown tonight, and he said himself he's no idea if it's him or not playing on jealousy as it's so close to the Rossi Frost version, he can't tell which version ended up on the album.
When Alan's back was turned who knows what went on? Not that it really matters (except maybe if it was done without his knowledge) as this was quite common in bands then so long as the finished product delivered the goods. And Andy would be the obvious replacement.
He played bass (and keys) on a few early Peter Frampton albums, some of the biggest hits of the 70's
I wonder if he ever regretted leaving Framptom's band right before 'come's alive'
And does anyone know who played bass on the Rossi Frost singles? At a guess I'd say Andy or maybe Francis.

There's definitely a few songs on JS/NTL i've detected a different bass style and sound on which i've wondered about, most notably "Never Too Late" and "AB Blues", but might just be thinking about it too hard... "Riverside" another contender...just sounds less involved musically than what Alan would typically play or sound like, kinda blends with the rest of the instruments more than usual, when Alan usually stood out on his own more, which, as a bass player, helped cement that 'four guys pulling together as a unit' idea. The bass sounds neutered on certain tracks from those sessions.
