They don't half get persuaded to do some $hit Never seen that advert before. I don't want to see it again
PS What I "liked" there was that comment. Never have Francis and Rick looked sillier ... not in a good way either!

They don't half get persuaded to do some $hit Never seen that advert before. I don't want to see it again suppose the good bit that came out of it all, they'd (or somebody else) decided that they no longer want fans to be involved - after asking for expressions of interest, when the idea of a film was first mooted. Everything about that flm was about raising funds to pay the makers. IIRR Stuart St Paul actually wrote a book on how to do that. Result for him ...

Rhino has been unappreciated since day one for the simple reason he isn't Alan Lancaster. Back in 86 must have been a real killer to know that the vast majority of fans at live gigs were totally against him being in the band and his playing style. Of course back then 90% or more of the audience were hardcore "old Quo" fans. Fast forward 30 years and 90% of the audience at gigs are casuals who would be hard put even naming Francis and would have no clue who the rest of the band are, so the unappreciated tag becomes irrelevant. On the message board it was understandable he'd get sick of constant criticism, most people who post on boards like these are fans of whichever band it is classic phase, FF for Quo. Getting constantly derided by people who for the most part don't go to see him play would get very wearing. Nice of you to stand up for Rhino, thanks. But I was a very active fan during that changeover period, and it certainly wasn't true that the "vast majority of fans" (I can't claim to have counted them all, but I doubt anyone else did, and I talked to quite a few harcore fans and we had all the fan club mags) were totally against him and his (personal or playing) style. He was regarded as an interesting new curiosity by many, he was soon seen as being good to fans, and wasn't generally blamed for Alan leaving as most Quo fans read the news and had the common sense to know that wasn't the case and that the real problem was elsewhere. I would say that the vast majority of fans were vastly relieved to have the band back on the road again .... It's the same as anything, there's a vocal minority who try and dominate any discussion and spread bad feeling. Just like politics really. All very true. On the other hand the passion of fans from classic quo was not nearly always understood either and has too many times only been turned down as negativism which was not nearly always justified either, there's a vocal minority on both sides and not just on one side

Totally agree, Victor, there are those (troubling) vocal minorities wherever you go. It's a fact of life sadly.

I was indeed. I'd thank you for reminding me but I'm not sure that's an appropriate response Care factor zero: we couldn't care less?

I well remember the first message thread, which i started viewing in 1995/6 in my dinnertimes at work... Then the new-look messageboard came in around '99, I well remember people like Quoling and Goran, who always seemed to have a problem with someone or something.. There were loads of good folks too - Bare Jear, who I have as a friend on facebook, Paul (Steel City Quo), Redrockin', Telemaster (who built me my replica Rick Parfitt Tele), and many others. I always wondered what happened to Townsville Quo though, as it was wondered if he perished in the awful bush fires one year... If you're out there, get in touch!
Rick Roper.
