There were some real loons on the old board, I mean obsessives who were on every day and couldnt have their views challenged. I met some nice people from the old board Steel City Quo(Paul) and co. Were, are really good folk, and we enjoyed a few gigs together. But there was some people on there that spent unhealthy amounts of time arguing over tiniest detail, trying to compare this band with the original Quo, everyday the same argument over and over again. People became so defensive they were arguing for Bula Quo BEFORE it had even been made, little wonder the thing got shut down.

I used to frequent the old official message board quite a lot. Look in more or less daily. So did Mrs Mortified and my sister. It's all Facebook for them now. I don't subscribe Much as it got out of hand sometimes, I did learn a lot on there. Most of the information we got (true or otherwise) came from the message board as opposed to through official channels. And, like gentlemanjoe, met quite a few people over the years, some of whom I'm still in touch with. And one I married! I wouldn't say I miss it though. There's not enough Quo activity these days, which is really the only reason I've ever frequented any of the forums. The occasional dabble in non-Quo related subjects is just a bit of a sideshow. And I don't need the company

Was that the board that went totally mad and went into total meltdown at the end? I remember a board that had a F1 league.

I think I was on holiday or something. I came back and the whole thing had been abducted by aliens But, yeah, it had the F1 league as far as I can recall. It certainly participated in the Fantasy Premier league.

Yeah just looking through some of those names.
Quofann I remember was a positive American Fan Philpayola- he had a band and was pretty level headed Barejare - was that a woman with a canal barge? I met Steel City Quo at the first reunion. I think we just got talking.
It was really good for the people who wanted to use it to turn following he band into a social thing. That aspect wasn’t for me, but it was surprising as much as anything to realise there were other people who actually knew about the band to a similar level to me/us.
Some people i found to be a source of constant negativity and obsession to the point of it being a little piteous. And really it’s not healthy living life like that.
But online fandom is like that. I just think quo ironically has a larger and more passionate online following than most other bands in the early days of the internet

I think the reunions were a watershed for me, in terms of maturity of what I like by Quo. That sounds a bit arsey - it’s not supposed to.

The 'obsessives' and those spending 'unhealthy amounts of time arguing over tiniest detail' were from both the darker side and lighter side , FF supporters and post FF supporters who often disparaged the original band and members and challenged those with an FF view with some thinking it was Rhino posting under different guises. With a band that changed so much, imploded and split up over these matters how could there be anything but division and debate reflecting this amongst fans? Without this however it probably would not have been such an interesting community. It was in my opinion a healthy and shared place that the band/its management in the end threw the rattle out of the pram and in the process showing disrespect to fans and really shooting themselves in the foot by losing a channel for promotion.

I play Quid Pro Quo and Aquostic as much as any if the 70s stuff, and Rick's solo album. I also came round to Party ain't Over Yet, which I really like now, and admit I rubbished it at the time.
Without wanting to turn this into the old board again😂, There really was a load of cobblers from Quoin the 80s and 90s, whereas the old band just never dropped the ball. It was an awful, I couldn't listen to the covers albums and Perfect Remedy, Thirsty work again with a gun at my head, but we do tend to remember the good stuff.
I used to enjoy Quozone winding Quoling up every day, that was one of the funnier elements, in the dark days of the old v new arguments. In my opinion it would probably have survived, although ailing, if Bula hadn't arrived, the backlash on the board was relentless, and I reckon was the head shot that management gave to end the debates, all of them.

Yeah just looking through some of those names. Quofann I remember was a positive American Fan When I joined that board (dtroit) I heard nothing from QUO past NTL and made that known on the board. Bob recorded onto cassette 1982 up to Heavy traffic I think it was and shipped them to me. That took a lot of work on his part. There is a saying that goes "Couldn't thank you enough". That didn't apply in this case.
