Yep, I don't think there had been a tour involved. The single was called 'We Are The Boys'. Pre dates 'Anniversary Waltz' by a few years in terms of rock n' roll medley. Think John also had been involved in a one off Christmas single 'The Xmas Song' with Bramble. The one that really got away for John, after Quo, had been 'Partners In Crime' with an album engineered and Produced by John Eden. Didn't realise that Bev Bevan had any part of that thing - thought it was JC! Great to see the video too and especially to see Philip... Brilliant! [what in God's name is the turnip in the pyjamas going on about? I skipped that forward to the music! ]
Heard the PiC album - not one that features on my 'playlist' [and that's totally unlikely to change... ever! Throwaway AOR pap, imho!]
G Presumably, Bev Bevan stood in for John with the video, John having played on the actual single. 'Partners in Crime' was a departure but not out of sync with the times in terms of AOR. All academic but if the band had got a foot hold it may have led onto better things material wise.

Right near the end John is talking about Rick and PLC , can anybody work out what he says ( about Francis ) ....... “ * inaudible to my ears *and not many people know that “ Rick wanted to leave the current band, do something with Alan and John and get someone else in. Damn.

Rick wanted to leave the current band, do something with Alan and John and get someone else in. Why didn't he do it? Between 2014 (last FF reunions) and 2016 (when he actually had to leave), there was plenty of time to leave. But no, he stood around and even participated in the release of two Quo acoustic albums. Were there contracts to fulfill or something? What happened?

He had that situation before, when the band was in flux. He got some nasty wake up calls. He would never leave while the band still had an audience, not till his health forced him to.

Speculation obviously but, probably fear of leaving behind a steady career and starting a new one, which wouldn't be as financially rewarding

Loved it when JC was asked if he was in touch with Francis nowadays. He's quite conciliatory, saying how busy Francis always is and that he's busy with his own stuff, but then blows it with "...and Alan Lancaster doesn't get on with him either!" Good ol' Spud.

Rick Would never leave a band generating a 6 figure income for him. I get the impression he liked he high life and the easy life. PLC would have been a massive step up for John and Alan and a massive step down for Rick.
I’m happy for John. I went to see him with Stated Quo maybe 29 years ago and there were about 12 people there which was a little depressing. His persistence and hard work has paid off. A shame for him that COVID 19 has put paid to that.

Club gigs will be one of the last things to come back. But I guess John'll be back, he knows how to do it now and won't be phased by the new rules :-)
