I don't think so. I've been on a couple of official forums (not Bowie) and the artist's health is never discussed by their representatives unless there has already been some public event (like Dave Grohl breaking his leg) or official news announcement. It would be daft: fans are not family (whatever the advertising says) and there's no such thing as a MB that press members can't see. It would leak. I gathered there were "rumours" about David Bowie going back over 10 years, but they were all based on gossip, changes of schedule, etc., ie mostly had no meaningful substance. I made the suggestion on the basis of an announcement having been made. It had been stated a while before that he was suffering from cancer, so although his health matters were kept quiet in accordance with wishes of his family, it was not as if no-one knew he had been seriously ill at all No, it says he'd had heart attacks, which must have given rise to some of the rumours, but it does look as if nobody outside the inner circle was actually told about that. Now that he's gone, the news is coming out pretty much the same way that Bruce Dickinson's cancer battle came out - not a squeak (I'm not sure he even told the other bandmembers at first) until the management posted a news item on the band's official website at the same time as they released it to the press. Then people come out and start to say what they knew. Having liver cancer when he'd (presumably) been clean for decades is kind of disturbing. There's no suggestion it was secondary cancer (ie that he'd had cancer treatment previously). But fact is, even now, the "reports" are all based on a couple of statements from a couple of people who knew him. Or is it only one (the Belgian guy)? Factual, but minimal information. I'm fascinated to read about "direct cremation" ... I didn't know you could do that. That sounds like a terrific idea ... get your own or your loved one's body sorted out first, then you can have a wake or other ceremony over the ashes when you feel ready for it. Or they could. Of course you would not preside over your own wake ... I shudder at the idea of having to host a wake before I am ready for it. I don't necessarily fall apart when bad things happen, but having to describe how you feel to other people - that I find difficult. I didn't do a reading at our dad's funeral because I knew I would start choking up and snivelling. I'm also pondering on leaving my body to medical science. They do need bodies, the trouble is, it depends when you die. if you die at a weekend, they may send you back, as there aren't enough dissection classes going on at that time, and you need to be fairly fresh. And I don't think I have any interesting diseases they would like to dissect for. Unless a lifetime of eating apple cores really has left a tiny apple tree growing in my innards somewhere, like my teacher warned me in 1962. Does that ever happen? Now I am going to have to look that up, along with "How to leave your body to medical science."

Health privacy wishes are a very personal decision choice. There is no right or wrong decision - it is what works for the sufferer and their close family and friends. In the high profile music world, band management are duty bound to take their cue from those wishes - but as I was implying up the page, consideration will be given to the fan base in terms of what information if any, and when such information might be disclosed. I am, um, not exactly made up these days with CQ management decisions in terms of band priorities when it comes to publicity methods, live gigs, and promotion of the band in general but I don't think they can be criticised unduly when it comes to personal and health matters as discussed in this thread. These are highly sensitive and depend on the decision making as stated in this post imo

" Quos management" ? Never existed,Quos marketing team ? different story. Had i been Rossi or Parfitt i would of "managed"the management team. Im sure both would of been both as wealthy, and held their head uo high amongst their peers.
