Quite a tough one to work out whats actually going on with that solo, not so much the notes used but the phrasing of them, this is about as close as I can replicate it. To my ears its played on a guitar with a whammy bar going by the ending, anyone know for sure?, the overall tone doesn't sound that much like a Tele to me, but who knows!, anyway thats why the green Tele is hanging on the wall behind me.
Played first at original tempo (ish) then again about half speed for anyone who might want to try learning it.
Not much of a fan of anything that came after 1.9.8.2 but Red Sky was one that I liked the first time I ever heard it, cool track, always take me back to younger days.

Jamielotustech, thanks for this ! These videos of yours are really very helpful ! I have been playing guitar for years but was out of it for a long time due to life circumstances. I am practicing to pick things up again and videos like this are really a blessing

Glad you find them of use Victor, I was starting to wonder if there was actually any guitarists left on the forum considering how quiet this section is nowadays. Hopefully you will get back up to speed and feel inspired to maybe record some stuff yourself, great way to pass the scabby winter nights! .
Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see slowed down and I will see what i can do, nothing post '82 though!.

Excellent cover bud, like the guitar tone a lot, what would be even better though is take away the Quo backing track and do your own full mix, and a wee video so we can see how its played, and we can maybe get some life back into this part of the board again, like it was a few short years back. Keep 'em coming .

Keep 'em coming . Myself and ant planned god knows how long back to cover some Quo tracks. Still need to do the guitar bits for those when I can as I'd like to pick that project up again. I still have his drum tracks somewhere, so I'll get some stuff sorted next week when I'm off work Cheers

Great stuff as usual, Jamie. One of my favourites. Nice sound on the guitar for this song. Shame Quo didn't follow this style or do a few more like this. I always remember a mate of mine and not a Quo fan suggest that this was ZZ Topish. I can see his point.

I like that Jam...is it me or is it slower (the first bit obviously!)? That works really well if you have deliberately slowed it down.

I wonder if the solo (and quite a few others of that ITAN/AC period) were played on those horrible Jackson Charvels the band were promoting around 1987/8? Maybe a bit later on that though.
That Red Sky solo sounds more like Pip Williams to me, but who knows?
