For me i like like the intro on NEC and Pete's drum fills in the intro are really good & add something during the build up which is lacking with Jeff, but the vocals for me are better on LAQ & it is a overall better performance and version of HYB.

I'd have to go for either the Butlins 1990 version or Milton Keynes 1984...
However the version that featured on the LAQ album (that you mentioned) from the Wembley Arena, 16th December 1990 gig is great also

Out of those two ...then the NEC gets my vote.

Overall LAQ sounds better to me. More balanced mix and you can hear both Rick's guitar and the backing vocals. It's even more playful and it seems like they enjoy it more. I like how they let the audience join in the intro. The rythm section is better on NEC. Heavier. The intro on NEC is annoying as Rick and the audience is clearly in different time.
Another question: When did Rossi start to sing "rrrreally a rrrrrrreason"? Is that annoying or charmy? I don't know.

1982. No two ways about it. By 1989 the keyboard's getting too loud, the piano too tinkly, the drums too fast. Although Wembley 1990 was my first-ever Quo gig!

MK or '84 tour in general, Pete's drumming and more prominently Rick's Viper guitar. IMO he could never replicate that sound with that sunburst Tele he switched to in '88/'89...
