Cheers! Getting bored of the same old posts saying Quo are a trib band. So you concentrated on that aspect where you know we disagree and not the quality of the set I proposed?

You've got Jam Side Down in there and that was never played live Oh yes it was. The live version is in the playlist. TOPS, and it's definitely being played and not mimed. The only thing live about that TOTPs performance is Rossi's mic

I would add Red Sky to that setlist as it only gets briefly played in a medley

There will be no major overhaul of the setlist, apart from 2-3 off Backbone it will be business as usual. As young and enthusiastic as Richie is Rossi is too set in his ways Cheers

At least Richie can do his own thing in the lay off with his own band. I'm really interested to see what kind of stuff he does and just how heavy.

The only rules I had for it are they had to be songs I liked, recorded after B2B and had a live performance on youtube from some period. My point was that they really have recorded enough very good material to make a great set list. But if I've missed a few that's great, please let me know.

I would disagree. I think the current band are not Status Quo and could be considered a tribute act that have the legal title to use the name only but are not essentially Status Quo but a licensed act, so it is not necessarily a 'fact' that they are not a tribute. An artist can play tribute to the music of the band they were once in and that created the music. Francis and John were in Status Quo and both now play tribute to that band's music of which they were a part but neither can be 'Status Quo' on their own in the sense of the band that created this music heritage and style (i.e. Frantic Four). Paul McCartney never claims that any of his post Beatles bands are 'The Beatles' but he does pay tribute to the Beatles music for which he was of course a major part in creating but he has the sense and decency to recognise that to say he is 'The Beatles' would be arrogant and wrong. I know that this type of thing was an issue for John Fogerty who was sued for writing a song that sounded like Creedence Credence Revival, of which he no longer had the rights to the music, but he argued that you cannot copy yourself and I think he won the case for the individual song but he is still unable, as far as I know, to go out as Creedence Clearwater Revival. I share the view that the current band actually demean themselves by playing primarily covers of Status Quo music over the last 30 years and not a set list primarily of their own created music. If they had they probably would not have been able to tour which says a lot about them as a creative act/artists...i.e. they only survived as a tribute act. They did not have the backbone to stand up for their own music but relied on constantly touring with virtually the same greatest hits/well known classics of Status Quo. What is that then if not a tribute? I wish they would have the courage to go out on the strength of their own music and the set list outlined above. "A tribute band does not include members of the original band whose music is being honoured. If a member is included in a band performing the music of their original group, the band is seen as a spin-off band rather than a tribute band." So it is a fact. Can't be a tribute act when a member of the band is still IN the band. John has no shares in the Quo name, nor does Alan... the Status Quo brand was and is owned by Rick and Francis. Andy has shares in it as far as I know, so does Rhino. How is it not their own music? Let's have a look at the current setlist Caroline [Rossi / Young] Something 'Bout You Baby I Like [Cover] Rain [Parfitt] Little Lady [Parfitt] Softer Ride [Lancaster / Parfitt] Beginning Of The End [Rossi / Edwards] Hold You Back [Parfitt / Rossi / Young] What You're Proposing [Frost / Rossi] / Down The Dustpipe [Cover] / Wild Side Of Life [Cover] / Railroad [Rossi / Young] / Again And Again [Parfitt / Lynton / Bown] Mystery Song [Parfitt / Young] The Oriental [Rossi / Edwards] Cut Me Some Slack [Rossi / Edwards] Liberty Lane [Rossi / Edwards] In The Army Now [Cover] Roll Over Lay Down [Rossi / Young / Lancaster / Parfitt / Coghlan] Down Down [Rossi / Young] Whatever You Want [Parfitt / Bown] Rockin' All Over The World [Cover] 12 of the songs have either Rossi's or Andy's involvement out of 16 Quo songs. They could quite easily drop Ricks songs from the set if you would like his family / estate to stop getting royalties? And a good portion of the set might be from the 70's lineup, but they are Rossi's or Andy's songs... so, should they not be aloud to play them simply because they are from a period of the band that hasn't been in existence for almost 40 years? You could say the same about EVERY legacy artist! They have to play the hits rather than newer music because that's what the casuals who attend the gigs these days know... it's not a case of them not having a Backbone to standup for the own music, and it has nothing to do with their creativity. You could say the same about the Frantic Four reunion tours, they were paying tribute to how the band were in the 70's, and the casuals that did attend those gigs didn't know most of the songs and kicked up a stink because they didn't play Army or Rockin'. It might not be the Status Quo that you or others like / remember, but it is Status Quo. Rossi owns the rights to the name (as does / did Rick, but he's no longer around) and can do whatever he likes with his band. You provide a definition of a tribute band with no source but it does not agree with dictionary definitions and others on the Internet. It would appear only a view and opinion , not fact, in the same way that my view is as much. You may be getting tired of people referring to the current band as a tribute act but you will also be aware that many are fed up of them being referred to as Status Quo. This thread was about the band playing the Quolite created music but you then jumped on that immediately and turned it in to a different conversation in a defensive and sacred way as if what you say is fact when it is not. In any case I will add the normal response to this post of mine and save you a response ... zzzzzzz (and I have no intention of continuing going around in circles)

Wish they had /will tour that set list, or something similar. Might have been ok, but only as long as they played them properly and with no medleys. The majority of old Quo songs played in a fashion, by the current line up have had there day (cringe fest of Hyde Park) and are not done or given any justice. I'd rather hear something different from them rather than the same old butchered versions they do now.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again... they aren't a tribute band at all, and it's not a case of opinions it is simply FACT. An artist cannot pay tribute to themselves... I will always use the same argument of, if Status Quo are a tribute band then so are John Coghlans Quo, when in actual fact they are both just bands. and tbh they can play whatever they like, especially when most of the older songs they play were either written / co-written by Rossi or Andy. Legacy bands have to play their hits these days, simply because that's what most of the audience know... Def Leppard play most of the Hysteria album every time they tour, because that was their biggest selling album. What is that then if not a tribute? I wish they would have the courage to go out on the strength of their own music and the set list outlined above. While in itself this is true, it is also a fact that Paul McCartney deliberately left the Beatles and started his own solo albums and own bands like The Wings. Had Francis done the same it would have been a post Quo band. Francis is still in Quo though. Yes the line up changed and he is the only original FF member but as such he does have the right to carry on the Quo name until he leaves. Is it Status Quo for me personally ? No, it's Francis' Quo for me...but I don't think the situation is the same as with Paul McCartney.

americanquo , Throw in; Little Dreamer (to go before Perfect Remedy) Soft In The Head (to follow Goin' Nowhere) Queenie (great track performed live for a very short period of time on the Thirsty Work tour) Who Get's The Love (in place of Cream Of The Crop) Rock 'til You Drop could be done before the encore, and perhaps the Party Ain't Over Yet could be the opener for the encore... (If we're going for encores that is) Beginning of The End can be ditched as it's outlasted it's stay in the set as it is, and get rid of Rave On as it was never done live (it was a playback performance at the Shepherds Bush gig)

I would like to add Overdose, but I doubt anyone would be able to sing it.
