I'm not overly keen on Rossi and his attitude in interviews these days. He takes unnecessary jabs at people simply because he can, whilst trying to make himself look better. And the album was done for money and money alone. I doubt the label would have asked them to do one. Then again, the label is their own Fourth Chord Records I still feel that he has a slight love for Coke. Not taking a jab at him, it's just going off of every interview where he feels the need to mention it and in his book theres a bit where a he describes coke. I'll have to go back and quote it, but it felt almost like an advert to take it and considering it didn't take much persuasion for him to start taking it again in the 90s, I doubt it would these days

There is a lot of Francis paranoia going on. Or should I say reading too much into things. Must be getting close to release day is it ? Firstly my interpretation is He is actually giving you the answer with the question mark regarding doing it for money. As everyone in life does whatever they do for the money.. work work busy busy bang bang !! Secondly the point he is making regarding Rick just being a member of a band is true about everyone who has played or plays in a band ?? No one is indispensable. Even the Crickets made albums after Buddy Holly died and had great success !! Thirdly the Cocaine point is way out of order imo. Where in that pasted one page interview would it even give you the ammunition to accuse him of still having s love of Coke ?

Then again, the label is their own Fourth Chord Records No, it will be released through earMUSIC / Edel its distributed via earMUSIC. Fourth Chord Records has been the bands record label since ISOTFC as that was the first release once the band came out of the deal with Sanctuary. Everything that isn't owned by Universal is released via 4th Chord these days and distributed by earMUSIC.

I do think that Rossi lost the track long ago musically. He brought the band in wrong direction. But let's say that you like the direction the band has taken musically. Then I think you would think what he says makes more sense. I think our opinion of what he is saying is pretty much influenced by the disappointment in the change of musical style. I don't know if he actually says that he played a bigger part in Quo than Rick.

Cant remember if kids were with them, but he mentions going back to his hotel room(?) and taking it.

Probably moments before he donned that yellow suit and performed his solo single for TV on the beach...Ibiza, maybe?

I think the yellow suit performance on GMTV or some such show was in Alcudia on Majorca.
Think he was in Amsterdam, with wife/family, when he gave into temptation to have a coffee!

Reading that article reminded me something Francis said in one of the Quo biographies. And I've found it in the '79, Authorized biography by John Shearlaw.
"I remember when I was about six years old realising under the road was just dirt, Oh! I thought, nothing to worry about there. No roads, no houses, just dirt. Nothing to get too hung up about." p100
For me this reflects his attitude to being in show business and why he can say something that many of us find hard, "Rick was just a member of a band."
He has to find a way to play down his inner anxiety and that is how he does it by demystifying it. He was always like that, even as a 6 year old boy.
The bit that passed me by though, in the following paragraph is very interesting.
He's reflecting on being stuck now in showbiz and the band, chasing success. "But there you are, you're stuck in it, for the moment at least. Worrying, hating each other, all of that."
I was so star struck back then that "hating each other" passed way over my head. So 1984 came as a shock.
Back to the recent interview. I actually don't have a problem with it. From my own experiences, behind the scenes, I see show biz as he does. There are some lovely people in it but they are few and far between. It also attracts psychopaths, narcissists, and neurotics. Its exhausting to be in.
The other angle we can never experience is that he knew Rick before they were famous. For Francis, Rick is that fella he met at Butlins and they worked in a band together for over 40 years. Some of my uni mates are famous in other areas of the arts but to me they are still those people I knew back them. I don't think of them as celebs. Taking his statement in that light, he means no harm by it. Take it out of context and from the pov of a fan thinking about their teenage hero - its very hard to hear.
