Never read this before, quote from John Fogerty
“John Fogerty recorded his original during a dark period when he was boycotting his old Creedence Clearwater songs; he isn't concerned that many people think it was penned by Status Quo. "It's wonderful to have a cover that's much better known than the original. Even at the time, when I was still lost in the woods, the fact that there was a song I'd written that was doing quite well made me feel much better."

Not sure if this is right, but while they were on the same bill quite a few years ago, he wouldn’t go on stage to play it with them at some European festival?? Seems a bit odd that’s all..

Well, their versions are quite different, maybe it would have required too much rehearsing? Or nobody wanted to give in and play the "other's" version...

It was Montreux 2009. On the old board Pip said that John wasn’t interested in speaking to Quo that day. This was also confirmed in Classic Rock where the reporter said something along the lines of the Quo camp was full of good nature but there was a noticeable chill the nearer you got to Fogerty’s dressing room. Plus one if his crew said to Quo’s p.a. that he had written their “hit” ( singular)!!

Oh, forgot to say- he was really shit.
Took an age over changing guitars so any momentum he had built up was constantly destroyed
