For an unknown reason, I gave the extended remastered version a spin today...remember at the time thinking it was poor...and 29 years on...it's no different! 3 or 4 decent tracks at best (the B sides/extra tracks were marginally better than the Rossi/Frost errm solo orientated stuff that made the 12 track 'cut') but good old Pip 'No Guitars please' Williams made a right lash up of the production...or was it Mr Popular Francis using the Quo name to 'push' his solo stuff again as Quo? Anyway, one disappointment was they never stuck 'Live' with 'The Power of Rock' which I though during the 1989 Tour could have become a decent addition to the Set in future Years...perhaps instead of the pointless re recording of 'Tommy's in Love' they could have redone 'TPOR' with RTYD style production?
Was a good Tour though looking back on it though, Quo were 2 different Bands back then, Live and Studio wise...

In fairness to Pip, he tried to stop the release of the album but the RC ignored him. I still like Man Overboard but that's about it. Really liked power of rock at the time

The thing with The Power Of Rock being dropped from the live set is something that was bound to happen no matter what.
Both Rick and Francis strained whilst singing it.. it's obvious when listening to the Birmingham NEC 1989 boot as opposed to the overdubbed VHS release

Always found it a bit too perfect, no pun intended. Guess it shouldn't be a suprise.
Were they also using some backing tracks live on this tour, or was it just overdubs?

They were definitely using backing tracks in some form for the Perfect Remedy tracks, as you can hear the click track both on the official release and bootleg recording. Rossi strains a fair amount during his vocals, and there are a few notes Rick doesn't quite hit, but you've got to also see that this was halfway into their 2(?) Hour set. Rossi mentions prior to the track that "it's a bit of a problem to sing", which was cut from the release.
