In the library having a flick through his book and he said something like "Went back to studio and was told Status Quo had been in,I didn't want to run into them and left" Scared he might learn something?

Could be wrong but i think this was when Quo were recording ITAN. Which then spawned the lyric from Marr and his mates ? "I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour But heaven knows I'm miserable now"

Quo were all a bit too macho for that miserable bastard ,the man responsible with his mate for some of the most depressing music ever recorded Cheers That was the Quo of Rhino and Jeff so not really all that macho. Also at the time The Smiths were recording the Queen is Dead whereas Quo were working on In The army Now. I now which I'd rather listen to!

Which has evolved into Xtra Diet Macho Lite Quo of what we have now

In the library having a flick through his book and he said something like "Went back to studio and was told Status Quo had been in,I didn't want to run into them and left" Scared he might learn something? Marr and one his roadies drove through the night, in heavy snow, from Manchester to Jacobs studios in Farnham with the intention of retrieving (stealing) their master tapes. The Smiths were in limbo stuck between Rough Trade and EMI (injunctions etc) at the time and the album was on hold but Marr wanted the tapes back, so to speak. They got there in the very early morning. Marr crept up to the door of the farmhouse studio hoping it would be unlocked and it was, fortunately for him. He was hoping any band that may be sleeping there would still be tucked up in bed with their teddies (you can make up your own jokes). Hence the comment about Quo, as he knew they had been recording there around the time..." Status Quo had been there a few weeks before and I didn't fancy bumping into any of them". Just as Marr found the tapes on a shelf the lights went on and was confronted by one of the owners of the studios. Apart from the legal problems the owner told Marr that he couldn't have the master tapes back as the studio bill had not been paid. Bit of a waste of time and petrol?

Cheers.I always look in music book indexes to find mentions of Status Quo but really couldn't be arsed to read the whole thing in this case.
