What a fascinating read. Thanks so much for posting.
I would imagine that John would want to stay out of any band politics and get the music recorded.
I would be interested in a remix of these albums because I loved what John did with RAOTW. And I don't think he'd make them worse. They were never my favourites. Though I had them of course.

JS was the first Quo LP I owned. Although before that had FTMO on cassette. Big soft spot for it.

Well 4th Chord - those two tracks are two of my all time favs, magic, terrific, marvellous! Or blood awesome, if you prefer. And I can totally get why you were grabbed by these albums. Especially those two tracks. And whenever I got a new Quo album, I played it to death. And I remember doing that with these albums too. On reflection, I think what I meant was the music that has stayed with me, after a gap of not playing Quo, these albums faded quicker from memory than earlier ones. A quick look back at the listings and I see why. Too many Rossi/Frost tracks.

The two above are probably my favorite tracks from both albums. Probably been done before but could we make a decent 8 track album out of both of them ? Might put a poll up to vote for top 8 and see where it takes it.

I’d love those 2 remixed! Yea in itself me too... especially if some of the high pitched harmonies could be taken out...but on the other hand I love those two albums as you know and I hope it wouldn't make them sound less good... it can always go both ways with remixing... I’d have to agree about the harmonies but Francis was certainly in an ELO period at this time and Bernie as his writing partner did all the top harmonies. I know Rick wasn’t keen on a lot of this. But that’s how it is in recording you try new directions but sometimes looking back wish it had been different. With lead vocal levels I’d sometimes be at odds with Francis as he generally liked his voice more in the track than on top. Of course different approaches always apply. Same with drums levels and that became a running joke. Of course this is all 24 track and a remix could produce a very different picture as you’ve witnessed with RAOTW. However as keen as I am to look at a remix of both these albums it’s not going to happen.

pupcious Seeing your comments on here reminded me of this long forgotten record, I just listened for the first time in about 30 years and was surprised how fresh it still sounds.

Yes it’s not anywhere on the Internet. I’d started Do you wanna dance with Rick but then we fell out at the point I wasn’t in the chair for the 1982 album. Everything changed at that point. Craig got involved and it went very synth orientated. I still got credited with Rick but I left half way through.

TBH I'd love for all of their older albums to be remixed just for the sake of giving them a refreshed sound without changing too much about them

Crowdfunding.........

It would have to be something that Universal got behind and again tapes need to be found and restored it’s quite a process to look at something that’s 38 years old.
