Why is a remix not on the horizon currently John? TBH I'd love for all of their older albums to be remixed just for the sake of giving them a refreshed sound without changing too much about them I think at this stage there would not be enough sales to recoup the costs and I certainly couldn't finance it like I did for RAOTW. It would have to be something that Universal got behind and again tapes need to be found and restored it’s quite a process to look at something that’s 38 years old. I thought you had copies, just going from your post on a previous board where you spoke about Rock N' Roll continuing until the tapes ran out. There are a few demos also from around that time (I'm sure you'll know about them) that have been unearthed from Trend Studios, yet to be released What is the cost for something to be remixed? Who's decision was it to fade out Something 'Bout You Baby I Like? as it does have an ending which can be heard on a playback / live vocal performance

Who's decision was it to fade out Something 'Bout You Baby I Like? as it does have an ending which can be heard on a playback / live vocal performance Yes I did post about the ending of RnR before.I have safety masters of the stereo mixes pre the disc mastering stage. In the original mix the multi track tapes runs out and I added 10 seconds of reverb at the end point using a Lexicon 224. When I did the vinyl mastering I faded the end. Production masters where made reflecting this fade and any eq, level changes, limiting or compression that was made. These tapes are what any subsequent vinyl masters and sadly cd masters would have been prepared from. From purely a remastering perspective I have the stereo mixes pre vinyl that could be used for remastering. However we are talking about remixing here and for that the original 2” 24 track master tapes are needed. These I don’t have copies of. Remix cost oh my so many variables in dealing with old analogue tape. The fade on Something About You Baby I did, certainly don’t have any recollection of a decision process. It was intended as a single so natural in this type of repeat chorus out to fade for radio. When I prepared a backing track mix for TV or video I’d always leave “open ended” no fade so the tv director/audio mixer could opt for any fade point they wished for the visual. That’s why you may have heard an ending.

I wouldn't like to open a can of worms, but it's a burning question...did Alan play all the bass parts over the 2 albums, or was there someone else here and there?
