Classic Rock has published a list of the Top 100 albums from the 1990s.
Only one entry per act.
The top 10 albums were according to Classic Rock...
Metallica Metallica Soundgarden Superunknown Black Crowes Southern Harmony and Musical Companion Pearl Jam Ten Wildhearts Earth vs the Wildhearts Alice in Chains Dirt Guns n Roses Use your illusion I and II Marillion Brave Motorhead 1916 Thunder Back Street Symphony
The whole list has a lot of missing bands/records... interesting list.

Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains wouldn't even make my top 100 let alone 10 but that's just my opinion. I don't think any of those bands added anything of interest to rock music.

I think its top 20. But for me it has one great single, the rest is good but not amazing. At least 3 singles off that album, Teen Spirit, Lithium and Come As You Are are incredible songs IMO and the rest of the album is crammed full of quality such as On a Plain, Territorial Pissings, Breed, Drain You, Something in the Way etc... Usually Classic Rock Magazine are pretty good at approaching lists with a balanced view, beyond song writing, production and musicianship, but also impact, legacy etc. To not have Nirvana's Nevermind in at least the Top 10 Rock albums of the 90s is beyond stupid and most likely agenda driven. Plus, Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction has got to be there somewhere, it's a biblical album
