Would love to have that in my car next time some young fellas have their DOOF DOOF crap playing in their car,at the traffic lights, so's I could blast some Slowtrain back at them haha. Of course you can. Google drive: drive.google.com/file/d/0B3WraNNp59dLRGtVQ3FHWjZncTQ/view?usp=sharingI must have done that about 14 years ago maybe? Just found it on the net again when you said.

agreed - reminds me of the rhythm change in 4500X. Very true. But it's the Quo chunky groove I love...goosebumps. Like the groove after the drum solo in Slow Train... Now how good is THAT. I could listen to an entire album of that groove. You mean this one? musicpleer.biz/#e1ccd38a1742459e41e3d227c692f4d2

Well spotted, I've never noticed that, but I've only had the album 43 years! Funny enough I didn't actually first notice it from the LP. I was playing it through Spotify and I noticed it listed as Oh Baby and I was thinking to myself "I'm sure this is meant to be listed O Baby". Sure enough, looking at the gate-fold, there it was. Even in the lyrics. But looking at the centre of the vinyl, well that was different. 43 years? I haven't had it that long though. Only 30-odd.

DWMT | 10/10 | O Baby | 10/10 | A Year | 9/10 | Unspoken Words | 10/10 | Big Fat Mama | 10/10 | Paper Plane | 10/10 | All The Reasons | 8/10 | Roadhouse Blues | 9/10 |
As QuocaQuola1 stated at the beginning of the thread "BAM!", right from the opening track. How do you open an album? Like that! Don't Waste My Time does exactly as it says on the tin. Fantastic. Then we lead on to what is probably their heaviest track, O Baby, how good does that sound? I love the gentle intro then that god-damn simple but very effective heavy riff - amazing. We lead on to A Year, a brilliant ballad and unusually, sung by Francis and the final half is just staggering building up to that crescendo. I remember watching JCQ play it a few years back and there were grown men crying. An awesome experience. We close side one off with an absolutely epic bluesy number. Everyone just nailed it here, Rick's vocals, Francis' solo, Alan'sbass lines and John's percussion - perfect, Unspoken words is my favourite on the album. It's worthy of an 11/10! Side two kicks off almost as good as side one did. Big Fat Mama, we get two bloody great songs rolled into one. What a rocker, Ricks voice is as good as is gets here! Next, in my opinion is one of Quo's best singles. I'm always at odds if this or Hello's "Roll Over Lay Down" is better. I still don't know. To top it the "promo" for it is epic. Next, is for me, the weakest track on the album. I say weak, but an most other albums it'd still be a great track. Then we finish off with a Doors cover. When I first heard this many years ago I really couldn't get into it. Then, after hearing and enjoying earlier albums (MK and DOTH) it really clicked. Love what they did to the original. And the cover? Doesn't get much better does it? Well, it gets as good (Quo) but it's still a 10/10 for the cover. Totting up the totals above gives an average of 9.5/10 rock **NOTE**
I was going to ask when did "O Baby" become "Oh Baby"? But I've just noticed that on the actual vinyl it's "Oh Baby" whereas on the gate-fold sleeve (back and centre) it's "O Baby". O/Oh well.

After ballsing up the other WYW thread... I'll post it here again (where it belongs). Cheers QuocaQuola1WYW | 6/10 | Shady Lady | 9/10 | Who Asked You | 9/10 | Your Smiling Face | 7/10 | Living on an Island | 7/10 | Come Rock with Me/Rockin' On | 7/10 | Runaway | 6/10 | High Flyer | 9/10 | Breaking Away | 8/10 |
See Pip, you can produce a bloody good album! Why didn't you a job this good with the Rockin' album? Bastard. I always thought this album should have kicked off with Shady Lady. What an LP opener that could have been! This album made up for the lamish effort we got previously with the Heat album. As it is, it opens with what is probably the weakest track on either side. What follows is amazing. The musically powerful Shady Lady and lyrically powerful Who Asked You. Two tracks that show Quo off to their best in this period. Following this we have a great little rocker about Ricks infidelity. Side one finishes off with semi-acoustic Living on an Island. What a bloody great bass line. Lovely song. Side two kicks off with a what I can only describe as a classy double chugger, I've always liked this/these track(s). Next, how do I describe Runaway? Was it the first of many? Was it the first single that many Quo singles seemed to follow in method? A speedy little number that resembles quite a few singles from the 80's and 90's but this was possibly their first in this style, maybe. Isn't ironic that when the WYW album was released on CD they dumped High Flyer? Their loss. A fantastic track that's typical AL with great lyrics. The album finishes off with Breaking Away, another bloody good rocker with some great lyrics. I love it, especially the harp at the end. Skin me another, pass along the whisky and the coke!
Again, adding up the totals, gives an average of 7.5/10

Two me, this is what summed Quo up. It's f'ckin immaculate. THIS WAS 100% QUO. The music and the image. I just wish I was there at the time. Sadly it was released a year before I was born!
I really, really enjoyed the Quo I heard in the late 70's when I was a kid but later on when I discovered Ma Kellys and Dog of Two Head, well.... they just blew me away. That was the stuff that I fell in love with.
I still find it hard that mere mortals wrote and performed this magic.

Love them. Especially the last one - Rossi's Tele perspective is spot on. Isn't it just. Bang on.

NOTE all - this thread is not QQ1's ongoing thread to give points out of ten to WYW - QQ1 will no doubt post that up in due course - this thread started just cause I wanted to know what AmQuo thought of his new WYW CD (Seeing as I love the album) # just sayin'.... Yeah, I know and I realised that. I hope he posts it soon so I can copy the post. doh Cheers.
