It's obviously not going to be the same. Of course there was a feeling of something being missing all night, but it was a lot better than I expected. Definitely not the best quo gig I've been to but I still enjoyed it. They all seemed happy enough on stage and it was nice to see Ritchie being included in the band more. It was great to hear him sing as well. Apart from one or two changes it was the same set. Gerdundula and the drum solo were dropped in favour of a quite frankly weird version of don't drive my car and Little Lady. I've only ever seen CQ in arenas so the sound and atmosphere were 100x better. I can imagine the atmosphere being even better had it been a few years back when the FF played the same venue. Francis briefly mentioned how the fans had demanded the change from aquostic to electric before someone threw a present on stage. Good timing I guess! It was nice to hear a brief mention of Rick before DDMC I guess. This line-up has certainly gone up in my expectations and I'll probably see them again in 2019 if they do smaller venues again and maybe bring some new material with them. Overall a good gig but by far not my favourite.

Thanks for the review. I have a ticket for the Hammersmith Apollo, so I know what to expect now. By the was; it is ‘Richie’, I think.

For me, unfortunately I have NO desire to go see 'some bloke' who I have absolutely no emotional investment in, sing Rick's songs.

My first Quo gig at Hammersmith was Dec 1974. Francis, Rick, Alan, John. My last Quo gig at Hammersmith was Mar 2014. Francis, Rick, Alan, John. 40 years of good memories from that venue. I don't want to tarnish those memories by watching the current band.

I'm with you on that. letsrock I didn't want to tarnish my memories of Quo up to the Milton Keynes gig so i never saw them play again after that as it wasn't Quo in my book. But i went all out on the 13 and 14 reunion tours and called it a day at Dublin for the same reasons. So live...i have only ever seen and experienced the best of them and i am one happy chappy at that.

They dropped Gerdundula! I made the right decision then. Thank you fate.
PS I went back over some vids from the last two years. I had forgotten how sloppy Francis could get in recent years, vocals particularly. This is another way of reducing the impact of the songs, and so reducing the power of the elastic which ties a Quo fan to the presence of her band.
