He says he's an insecure show off....
He says it's showbiz and about ego....
Maybe he doesn't want the audience thinking of someone else other than himself?
We all know he has a tendency to flounce or lose the head when he's not.
Speculation obviously, I'm just as pissed off and confused as everyone else

Speculation obviously, I'm just as pissed off and confused as everyone else You hit the nail right on the head, the evening would be about Rick and the most important people on stage would be RPJ, Alan, John, Bob and Jackie Lynton, Francis would come very low down any list. |

I personally see no need for one.
Can’t think of a band I like who have lost a band member who have held a tribute show for.
Yes most bands celebrate their fallen member much better than Status Quo have.
For those who needed one, I hope the Convention worked things for you.

I couldn't get to Minehead due to work commitments. And I'm sure it was special due to John, Alan, Bob, Jacque and all the others, fans etc being there. And may be it was as close to an official tribute as there will be.
However, there have been a number of tributes to Rick since he passed away.
I've been to 3. The JCQ gig on 30th Dec (at the Half Moon, in Putney, London) the unveiling of the plaque in Woking and the Party in the Park in Woking. They all meant a lot to me and were positive ways to remember him.
Maybe we don't need one big tribute but instead we simply keep remembering him and the music.

I was also at the Half Moon Putney on Dec 30th.
The Party In the Park in Woking on July 8th.
The Quo Convention in Minehead last October.
After John Coghlans Quo's performance, with Rick Junior, Alan & Bob on an emotional Sunday evening at Butlins, for me nothing will top it and I've got my memories & music to keep me smiling.

Well, it looks like our beloved rhythm guitarist will not be getting a deserved tribute concert. I am not sure if any rock legends have tribute gigs anymore. Did Lemmy? or Jon Lord? I think nowadays its up to the fans to celebrate the life of their heroes as they see fit. I went to the Half Moon at Putney on the 30th of December 2016 to pay my respects along with many others. The Butlins event this year was also by all accounts a fitting tribute as well!

After all this time, and its obviously an inconvenience, Are the current Quo people worthy of hosting such an event after all this time?
Better we did it ourselves.. I wish I could have been at Minehead.

It was a great night. Which strangely I followed up with the Frantic Four reunion in Manchester. |

There was a tribute in Stockholm as well, and it was excellent. That one and the touching moment of RPJ singing Living on an island... The emotions shared between us, we do it our way, we know and feel the loss, and we find comfort with the fellow fans... It is their loss actually, to miss out an opportunity to close the saga in a decent way...
