QThere are one or 2 on here that go back to the 70's with Quo. Question, did they ever have problems selling tickets for U.K. venues between 1975 and the WYW tour? I remember people queuing overnight in Sheffield for tickets for the WYW gig at the City Hall. Tickets were like gold dust.. I missed out,
As they were still amongst the biggest bands around then I'd have guessed this was the same all over the country
I ask the question as I read a comment the other day that they didn't sell out every venue on this tour?.
Cheers.

I saw them seven times in the seventies (three in 76, three in 77, and once in 79), all at the Glasgow Apollo. Every gig was sold out out. It's 'I SEEN them seven times'. It was actually quite jarring seeing it written correctly!

By 1979 in the UK they were doing 7 nights in London, 3 or 4 in Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and even 2 in places like Blackpool, Southampton and Cardiff – I went to Blackpool and Manchester on that tour – those, like most gigs, were sold out or near capacity.

Cheers. If you're referring to that bullshit from the otherside, those comments were made in response to someone posting the Groupon thing over. Personally, I don't think believe comments from a guy, who says he won't be critical of the "boys" these days and a Swedish man, who claims to have flown to Newcastle City Hall in 1979, from Sweden...
It has been said to me, by my Father and brother, that Quo in the 70s and 80s live were the same as tickets going in minutes on Ticketmaster today.

I first saw them in Canberra (Oz) ‘75 when they did 2 shows on the same day 4pm then 8pm. Both sold out. ‘76 they increased the number of gigs here sold out. Then in ‘78 they did a massive 21 gigs right across Oz including 4 in Sydney and 5 in Melbourne then for some unknown reason they dropped the ball here and didn’t return for 19 years.

Given the time involved and the lack of hard facts, we can only go by anecdotal evidence. Certainly, those I know who attended those gigs, never mention low attendance!

Every gig over here, from what I've heard was packed out

Interesting, I remember getting the NTL tour tickets for the NEC through the post and I thought I'd win the jackpot as there seemed to be such a huge demand at that time. I can't remember seeing any empty seats.

Saw them a few times in the 70s, from the RAOTW tour onwards. As far as I remember it was always sold out or near capacity. Hammy Odeon had a different capacity in the olden days (and the Britannia pub was opposite) as the seats were not removed. I think it was before the invention of the wheel so they couldn't get them out. Remember the palaver of getting tickets. Had to apply for tickets by post, which needed to be with the venue before the tickets went on sale otherwise you would not get any tickets and pay by cheque or postal order, really showing my age now.

Always full or near capacity here in Sweden as well, way back then.... From Gröna Lund amusement park in 75 and onwards towards EOTR, it was mayhem, sweat and a LOT of fun!

Went to one of Johns last gigs at Carlise in 81 and I'm sure it wasn't sold out by a long shot, but a few months before i was at hammy and it was full and bouncing, and looking at the few photos i have saved there wasnt one bald head in sight unlike 13-14 !
