Oh give it a rest with your tribute lark.
It's not hard to change the setlist for hardcore fans now, Francis. There are none going

That talk of we don’t want to pay a small tribute to Rick business where we don’t want to bring the crowd down from the high is just lazy hogwash imo. Seriously if you were at any gig, of an iconic band, would you feel ripped off if they paid a short respect and a song to a member who’d been with them for 50 years? Personally I’d feel honoured to be there. I just can’t believe Francis would assume we’re all there just for ‘the hits’... ffs the majority of people who attend their gigs must average 45plus and would appreciate a tribute to Rick even if they’re ‘the casuals’... they’d know Rick as they’d see them time after time promoting everything Quo for decades. For the life of me I can’t understand why he couldn’t just say something like..(lights dimmed with spotlight on Francis) ’and this one is for our dear ol mate Rick Parfitt’... before ripping into the album version of Mystery Song. I’m sure Ritchie would do it justice. A bit of soul to the gig would be memorable for the crowd no doubt.

Clearly Francis hasn't seen any clips or heard about how the convention at Butlins went. That was the real deal tribute for Rick Parfitt. I don't think RossiQuo can top that, no matter what they do.

We're doing DDMC, as a sort of tribute to Rick and I love it. We're doing the acoustic version of the song in an electric way. I hate the original version
How can people not see through the bullshit?!?!?

One thing I noticed I think The Beatles sold big Singles and Albums before Fleetwood Mac.

Changing a setlist is easy with good musicians, you just rehearse a big repertoire and choose from it and maybe practise stuff you haven't done in a while, with my electric band we never play the same setlist two nights running, the constant changes add to excitement and keep us musically on top form, so with a bit of effort Quo could do the same, The Stones still manage it. As for mentioning Rick bringing the crowd down, that's just bullshit, mentioning a legend lifts the crowd and they roar through the song if you pick a real rocker.

Exactly, Tony, as I said above that tribute moment makes a crowd inclusive. This stuff Francis talks about ‘we don’t want to bring the crowd down etc is just an excuse for not wanting to show emotion to a person he’s well n truly taken for granted as a business partner for way too long imo. If you don’t want to bring the crowd down then why play In The Army Now or(yawn) The Oriental?

Standard Rossi banter in time honoured fashion too, no real set changes...no surprise there then eh?

Grumpy, stubborn old sods (and young ones too) like to go against the grain....kicking back at critics helps their fragile egos and strenghthens their tenuous status (in their minds only). The more people that disagree with them, the better, helping cement their position as a free thinker or an individual/punk.
It's probably this attitude that keeps Francis going with Quo, and in the money. After all, he's used to the piss being taken out of Quo. And he's using this to his advantage - which is why he's disrespectful to most aspects of it, in our eyes.
Quo really isn't that important to him. But it is. "Look at me, don't look at me..." etc etc.
Playing with power. It's something most of us don't get to do in our lifetimes. I think it's that idea that he enjoys, rather than ACTUALLY dissing Quo's legacy. It's the position he is in, and because he's an insecure little show off (with power), he doesn't know how to treat the thing properly. Sad, and also shallow....such is human nature.
But just....remember who got you to where....you.....possibly.....are.

Hi All, Anybody else here what I heard around 0:30-33 (1st it was TSQ then it was SQ then it was Quo (statu!! ? ? ? ? tails off!) Realise boo boo carries on then states the new version of DDMC is so much better than the original He must still be on the drugs! doh
He must of been talking about the vision he had of the AC album with this statement! ? ? ? " thought AP was going to wipe the floor and it didn't really I think it was because we tried the disco approach "
Saved by the bell dinner time, Geoff.

Personally I like to see in the middle of the show a big pic of Rick pop up behind them and have Rossi tell a short story about Rick, one which we haven't heard before with a bit of humour in it. Then play Living On An Island in full & then Big Fat Mama with Richie on vocals on both songs. Then they can go back to the same ol' set again.
