As someone who likes Quo (i.e. FF) and also appreciates country music (Johny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, John Prine etc.,) this I am afraid is the worst of two worlds...CQ and Irish country 'music'.
Although not my cup of tea, I can admire the song and how Burning Bridges was forged together and it was, along with 'In the Army Now', (again not my cup of tea) one of the two lone 'successful' songs of CQ in a career of over 30 years.
Irish country music (as opposed to traditional Irish music/folk music) is however dire and an abomination\abortion compared to American country and this demonstrates it.
Francis will be as pleased as punch as this is the twee type of music that he aims at.
I was expecting some pyrotechnics on the bridges for 'burning bridges' but the budget must not have run this far.
It will however no matter what I think do every well in Irish country circles and many will love it, so this should be respected also.

Disturbing I know, but this thread has confronted me with the horrible truth .... I like the Quo version best.

Francis in Burning Bridges is at least honest about his cold character, especially when it comes to discarding friends in Quo[
...burning bridges never made me cry...
and of course his live adaptation
...can't escape this Ricky in my ears...'
