Going back to Dirty Water - it is the best song on Perfect Remedy. A live version is an extra track on there. I'm not sure what gig it was taken from though

Always found that whistle strange.. . It's like Andy is a school principal, breaking up a fight in the school yard. Odd one. I don't get it either I wonder if they're trying to get some Ibiza party vibe going. I've never heard that live gig before, they were much heavier back then, weren't they. And thanks for this thread FW. After the reunion gigs, I was aware that Alan was adding little details to the bass and loved it but as I'm not a practising musician, I wondered if my ears were deceiving me.

This might be the section he's on about All down to personal choice - to my ears that's pretty soul-less - Roadhouse is just a racing metronome - not entirely Jeff's fault - Rick must have been on the marching powder....... It becomes a high "speed" jam....but it loses much of its blues, its mood and its feel - much like many of modern Quo's live performances to be honest.....

It just highlights the difference between a band where everybody contributes & an individual's own band where he is the boss & everything is done his way - although the best individuals pick the right band members & then trust them to perform, but also give them freedom to express themselves.

Slightly less Darby and Joan club though That is dreadful... All the wrong tempo... I remember why I stopped going, cabaret Quo at its worst. Well apart from the Christmas sing along.

Both now and then.

Slightly less Darby and Joan club though That is dreadful... All the wrong tempo... I remember why I stopped going, cabaret Quo at its worst. Well apart from the Christmas sing along. Substances played their part initially, then it became more and more natural cabaret. Yet I still liked plenty enough of the catalogue even though after the old chapter completely closed with the End of the Road tour, I didn't see them live for many years after the mid/late 80's. I missed a lot of the high speed gigs of the late 80's and 90's.

By then I was more intetested in other bands.

I watched the 1990 gig at Butlins last night and imho that one is miles ahead of the LAQ gig from -92.
Not that fast and with the 'right' sound from both Frames and Ricks guitars...much better effort. quofr

Going back to Dirty Water - it is the best song on Perfect Remedy. A live version is an extra track on there. I'm not sure what gig it was taken from though Birmingham NEC 1989, it was originally used as an Anniversary Waltz b-side.

I'm not sure what gig it was taken from though Don't know what it is but I prefer the Birmingham '89 gig... might be down to the way it was mixed cause it sounds brilliant and Ricks guitar is a lot louder in the mix, and his tone is amazing... some delay or reverb on Rossi's guitar whilst he does the solo

Dirty Water was played on Homes Under The Hammer yesterday. Caught my attention any way. Not surprised it got your attention...bit random isn't it?! Funny to think that somebody trawls through what must be hundreds of songs just to find something appropriate for a fleeting TV moment.
