I have been to many gigs where bands paid some form of a tribute to a former band member. Some make a bit deal of it, others more subtle. Since Rossi is against mentioning Rick, does anyone have any more subtle ways that the band could pay tribute to him?
I think a projected video silhouette of Rick playing opening chords of Caroline would work really well at start of gig. Since they are using a click track they could use a recording of rick playing the intro. The band could then crash in, and lights turn on, when drums kick in. Something like that would be quite nice I think and appropriate. Thoughts?

We probably have to accept that they are continuing and that Rhino is "singing" some. (Not sure why Andy doesn't just do all of Rick's lead vocals as he has the range and a much better tone). I am just suggesting a few things that could maybe help improve things. Richie and Leon both are good singers by all accounts, and could do more lead. Rhino on the DVD is perfectly good at harmonies, but he really isn't a lead vocalist.
Anyway! It is ridiculous if they just ignore Rick. At a Who concert a few years ago, a short video of Keith Moon singing appeared. It was all that was needed...something like that would be really good for the fans.

The decision makers in the current line-up are not capable of doing anything remotely appropriate for Rick, therefore I say leave it well alone because you KNOW they would fuck it up.

A concert of nothing but Rick songs, that would mean alot of songs being done live for the first time ever so the band would actually have to rehearse properly, shared lead vocals and guest appearances from John, Alan, Matt, Pete if he was willing and even Jeff and then guest vocalists from their era, people like Ian Hunter, Noddy Holder, Ian Gillan, Bernie Marsden and Mickey Moody on guitar, I'm sure plenty of others would pitch up for one song. The sad thing is I can't see Francis going for it because the spotlight wouldn't be on him and his songs and Simon Porter wouldn't unless there was a CD/DVD god knows what else package of the event released. It would be interesting to see what possible playlists other members could come up with for such a gig, especially what the opening and closing numbers would be.

I think so too with absolutely no word from Porter, a sad sad thing and a massive insult to Rick's memory.

Will this do as a tribute?

I've been wondering if there is going to be a George Michael tribute concert - since he was a big star. And guess what? Its in jeopardy due... to problems with the family and giving their blessing. May be this is what the delay could be for any Rick tribute. Maybe... The last news entry I can find for George's tribute is April. www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/george-michael-tribute-concert-may-10277458

There's a big difference between the two. George was an independent artist so coordinating a tribute concert needs to be led by people that have no direct link other than he was their friend. Rick on the other hand was part of a huge profesional machine that could set up an event whenever they want to.
I think the lack of a tribute, as promised by Porter in his statement earlier this year says a lot about the Quo machine. If they wanted to do it they would.

Not sure if it's available to listen to now, but the Coghlans radio tribute show was perfect. For anything else it might feel too late now.
That said, something happening on Xmas Eve would seem appropriate. Reckon we'd have heard something though if plans were afoot...
