Just got notification from Ticketmaster that the gig in Auckland in October has been cancelled:
"It is with deep regret that Status Quo are unable to perform at Spark Arena, Auckland, on the 11th October due to a scheduling conflict. We sincerely apologize to our many New Zealand fans and hope to perform there sometime in the near future"
Wonder if the "scheduling conflict" is another Aussie gig? Lucky I hadn't booked my flights over to New Zealand!

"NZ gig?
If I was an NZ promoter I probably wouldn’t be putting my efforts and money behind Quo – there simply isn’t the demand – even in Auckland our biggest city of 1.4 Million. The Vector arena holds 12000. It’s totally the wrong venue for Quo – it could be an embarrassment. They'd be better doing the outdoor vineyard tours as a 3 band bill in Jan/Feb.
Vector Arena is the natural choice for Springsteen, Foo Fighters, GnR, Ozzy, ACDC, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Crowded House/Split Enz etc But Quo?...sadly I think they’ll struggle to sell 3000 to 4000 tickets. The logistics of getting them and their gear here will result in a thumping loss ( unless a tax write-off was the intention anyway!! )
I fear you might be right – I wouldn’t be surprised if the Auckland gig is pulled before it happens"

Doesn't surprise me either and that's why I held off booking my flights, they have a long history of cancelling gigs in NZ unfortunately...

Another example of the hit and hope strategy by Porter and Co.

Looks like pencils are being sharpened, belts tightened etc .
If it doesn't return a profit , cancel it , or re- name the tour to electric .
Anyone know how the boat trip has sold ?
How about ticket sales in Oz ?

How about ticket sales in Oz ? Looking at online ticketing for Melbourne, it looks like it's about 50-75% sold, not bad considering radio promo has only just started. Sydney Opera House has sold better with only single seats in the large Stalls and the balcony showing sold to about a third-way back. Gold Coast doesn't look like it's selling, with plenty of seats left in the front stalls in the front 10 rows or so. Newcastle (added much later than the others) has plenty of stalls left too, first search got a pair in the eighth row. The cruise has sold OK I think, but they have recently released a bunch of cheaper cabins at about half the price of the original cheapest ones, it's almost getting sensible now from AU$1300 twin share for the week!

Cheers Doc , appreciate the effort you've taken , thank you . Is the tour being marketed as Last Night of The Electrics there ? . It was here before the cancellation . Seems strange to still call it that in light of what is now going on in the UK . Minimal advertising ( I'm guessing) has resulted in so - so ticket sales , would you agree ? Now understand why people would take out the insurance offered when buying concert tickets . I wonder how many had booked flights and accommodation .

The tour is still being promoted as "Last Night of the Electrics", there were big posters outside the Sydney Opera House for it when I was up there a couple of weeks ago (good to see). I haven't seen any print advertising but radio promos are happening in Sydney and Melbourne at least. Most concert ticket insurance only covers loss of ticket price, booking fees, etc. not the full costs you might have incurred in getting to the gig, staying over, etc. Not worth taking IMO, just another commission sale for the ticket agencies.

😂😂good job I hadn't booked flights to Auckland. For obvious reasons I was in two minds about going but booked tickets to the show anyway. In some ways I'm kinda glad they've cancelled

You can't expect NZ fans to be THAT loyal.... Quo rocked in the 70s. When was Quos last visit there? So Quo has gone from Aquostic Cruise, to Aquostic Cruise plus tour of Oz and NZ, then drop Aquostic in favour of Electric Cruise inc Electric Oz and NZ, to drop NZ in favour of just Electric Oz. stusqo... hope you enjoy it and maybe one day we will meet to have that beer. Simon Porter gets a zero with his assumption of Down Under.

Even Maiden had a cancellation event in NZ not many years ago - it got blamed on the promoter, but it does seem there can be numbers issues over there in the furthest corner of the known world.

Queen with Adam Lambert have just announced a second concert at Auckland's 12,000 seat Spark Arena. NZ... the furthest corner of the known world? I reckon kiwipom may have an opinion on that. :-) There's a lot of gays in Auckland, Gaz🤐
