Status Quo have been forced to postpone their ‘Aquostic’ concert scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 25th June, at the The Nick Rayns LCR, UEA, Norwich due to illness. Francis Rossi has been diagnosed with laryngitis.
Francis was feeling unwell even before the band played a fantastically well-received headline set on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury last night but after that show it was obvious that there was a problem. Medical opinion was duly sought this morning, with the result that tomorrow’s show cannot go ahead.
The band plan to reschedule the show for Thursday 16th November 2017. Tickets will remain valid but any customers with queries should return to their point of purchase.
The band are primarily known for their touring and live shows, and the postponement of a show is always a last resort. In this unfortunate instance in particular the situation was totally outside anyone’s control.
Press release - Sat June 24th - 13:00

Shame he can't be replaced (apparently), like Rick was...
Get Freddie in and let Andy and Rhino sing his songs... It's still 'Quo' isn't it

Well, I'm sad for him. Maybe is grief will catch up with him and he'll be forced to stop on health grounds. It can happen. I hope he takes a proper break.

When Rick got crook and they had to bring Freddie in there was the simple answer that due to insurance the show must go on....really, whats the difference?

What was the time gap between Rick going off sick and their next gig? Yes, Freddie knows Quo but a) he might not be available. He left to work with his own band. b) this gig is only 36 hours away. I've now checked and the gap between Turkey gig when Rick collapsed and Windermere, their next gig was 4 days and not 2. I think that might be why they've only cancelled 1 gig. Lets see what happens if Francis doesn't recover after missing a single gig.

However, whilst obviously I wouldn't expect him to demonstrate great outpourings of grief, I wish he didn't give the impression that the show goes on so easily without Rick. Wasn't impressed personally with his comments in that latest interview.

I wish I didn't keep getting the impression that they (Francis/management) were finding Rick a 'liability' in his last days.

If Freddie was free to take over from Francis, then who also would be the front man who speaks to the fans? That is an equally important role he plays. No disrespect to Rick's contribution - it was massive - but he didn't do that. I guess Rhino could because he has his own band. But is that what fans would want?

Sorry Gaz, on this one, I think you're only seeing what you want to see IMHO. If they cancel the rest of the summer gigs, or for 2 weeks, then I'll agree with you. I also wonder who would take over the front man talking to the fans role?

In a band that isn't Status Quo any longer I have no problem with Freddie stepping in. I like him and think he has done well in his contributions to Francis solo band as well as Quo when Rick wasn't able to play.
In an ideal world, if they insist on prevailing as they are post Rick, I would prefer them to rip up the script and put something new and innovative together in their own name. Drop the parody, the imitation of the old name and turn a much needed page.
It won't happen of course because extracting every penny for as long as they are able, regardless of endlessly reconstituted prostitution of the old formula, is the sole priority

Actually in that sense they are wasting the potential and ability of both Freddie and Ritchie to produce something possibly innovative. Francis talks about feeling newly inspired in recent months - rather than insult Ricks name through endless karaoke of the product he was a part of, why not confront the real meaning of inspiration/ Get motivated by doing something new. If he is as bored as he appears to be with the same old, why does he say its like fresh air in this new era? Yet another contradiction. I think he makes it up as he goes along
