I've always thought Rick was a yes man and just went along with Rossi. All this business of him being the "rocker" in the band has only started appearing in the past few months. Before that he was more than happy to go along with every hair brained scheme with Porter and co to keep the BRAND in the spotlight. Alan for me is the main man in Quo,he got what it was the fans wanted to hear and always tried to push the band in that direction. Quo's most successful period was playing heads down no nonsense boogie so someone had to be right. That's what the BRAND Still trades off even though Rossi says he doesn't do nostalgia Alan was just trying to protect the legacy of the band that he formed and got shafted from Cheers

Some might see this type of correction to that statement
In truth Francis can't take all the blame, Rick let it happen and as we know the general management ethos also increasingly became one of entertainment and parody over rock music without gimmicks.
It is this which Alan disapproves of to the day, and partly at least why the old cracks started to appear once again by the time of the second FF reunion.
I don't get where you're going with that...you appear to have turned my coherent statement into something incoherent Sorry, I wasn't meaning to devalue your post I cheekily edited it to put a different slant on it that offers another point of view

Yes Rick may have gone along with the flow of Francis's decisions but that is a result of his personality. We all have different personalities and how we react to a situation... but what he did have in bucketloads was his hard rock attitude and what it meant to every single paying customer to every Quo gig he performed in. While Francis and co. tend to (imo) be rather blasé at times during a gig, Rick is still giving 100 percent as in back during Quos heyday. Have no doubt.... Rick WAS the rocker.
