Have you washed them yet? Surely the ideal song title to be emblazoned on them is "Roll Over Lay Down"? close but no cigar - try again Leave a little light on?

They were Correct, according to Deep Thought, the meaning of life the universe and everything was for me akin to Status Quo 1975 - 1985. I lapsed for a while but now proudly have my Hello Quo advertising board up on my kitchen wall. Sad but true!

I was trying to work out what the actual connection was, and failed to do the correct thing, which is always to go back to the original wording. Which Viv has. (Almost.) They were the Answer. And on my original encounter, there were balloons, too. OK, not red ones, but let's not be too fussy.

I wish I hadn't started this.... Sorry, Gates, but now I'm sure: uncork the champaign, get the trophy out! Hairy Wolfster was undoubtedly sporting the following song title on his Y-fronts: SOFTER RIDE

First of all QUO are my fave band. I have every album. I don't listen to them all the time. I'm into so many different types of music. I play music to suit my mood and that includes which QUO album I play. Will I play Ma Kelly's or Under The Influence or Blue For You? Will I play Depeche Mode or The Sex Pistols? Will I play Matthew Sweet or The Ramones? Bowie or Blondie? The Pretenders or The Stranglers? The Stooges or MC5? Peter Tosh or Bob Marley?
Status Quo are the most honest and true music entity to walk the planet. I love their attitude to what people think about them. They don't care what people think.
One of my fave songs of all time is " I'm An Adult Now" by Canada's The Pursuit of Happiness. " Another Girl, Another Planet" by The Only Ones. XTC's "Drums and Wires" album. The Saints from my country are a seminal catalyst for thousands of artists. Stranded, Know Your Product.
How much do I love The Specials, Ska and Reggae, Mozart, Dusty Springfield, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Neil Young and Crazy Horse- WELD is one the best LIVE albums ever made. "Ram" by Paul and Linda McCartney. Teenage Fanclub, Echo and The Bunnymen, Joy Division, The Jam, Dead Kennedys, The Undertones, Eddie and The Hotrods, Lene Lovich, Ian Dury and The Blockheads, Souxsie and The Banshees, Australia's Lime Spiders and The Celibate Rifles. Some of the best Australian bands I've seen were in the corner pub.
Status Quo are my greatest joy, though I don't limit myself to them only.
I almost forgot my other great love and joy, Grandaddy, fuck me sideways, I don't usually cry at gigs but when Grandaddy toured Australia in 2004 I saw them twice. They're a trillion times better than Radiohead and they're excellent and awesome.
Have I told you about the time in Sydney when I smoked a joint with Alan Lancaster after one of his gigs.............

Francis is desensitised from both his own and his previous bands past.
He lives in the present, which is not necessarily a bad attitude to have in itself, but he always makes the present better by ditching all its history which he holds dear in "the present" as time moves on and life keeps updating.
The drugs were part of this process and a legacy for a chunk of this desensitisation, but it also seems to be part of his natural overall attitude and coping mechanism If he was to live beyond 100, I do think he would look back on Aquostic, the arrival of Ritchie Malone to bring fresh life to his version of SQ as he sees it etc - as all part of yet another image, phase and nostalgia that is long past. In the same way as flower power, blue denim and then reverting to his long held ideal of becoming another Everly Brother.

I struggle with too much music in general from the 80's onwards to date. Much of it has left me cold tbh. Of course there is still some good music around, but the 70's was the last decade I felt part of generally musically that I could relate to.
Should I worry about this?
This perception of being "stuck in the 70's" (and 60's) helped in terms of continuing to favour Quo in later years - even though their hey-day had been and gone. But then along came the reunions and proved how being stuck in the 70's could massively impact four decades later.
Who'd have thunk it?
Francis has no idea what a massive feat they (the FF) pulled off in this respect. What a waste is such indifference!

love Quo to bits and have done since I was very young. Have also found them maddeningly frustrating during all this time. Now Rick has gone I have very little interest in the band now called SQ, but good luck to those fans remaining.
I listened to LOADS of Quo as a kid. As an adult I've given new releases lots of listens.....but I haven't listened much otherwise, maybe a few albums per year. Partly this was to help the live set feel fresh to me. That worked until about 2010
I think I will probably listen more in the future to the classic albums (mostly improving with age), and little if at all post NTL. Time has not been kind to most of it

when I got into quo in the early 80`s I collected everything I possibly could. my local record shop would let me know of anything new in to buy. in my back room I have the quo puzzle on the wall along with the gold disc and pics of me when I did the tv prog also the pics taken on the orint express.
in the cabinet below I have around 20 mugs, keyrings, clock, watch, drumsticks, mousemat, toby jugs, lighter and feck knows what else. I would spend hours on the old mb in case I missed any quo news. but now in the noughtys I rarely listen to the cd`s unless I'm in the car on me own then the hammy reunion cd may go on, but more than likely the stones will. I'm not into it all like I was and sometimes even think shall I part with some of the stuff. I wasn't looking forward to the winter gig but really enjoyed it much more than I thought I would even though rick wasn't there. the passion just aint in me any more like what it was. I don't know if I`ll go to another gig but ...... who knows.

I've watched and listened to quite a few Of Francis' interviews and I don't think he actually believes a lot of what he says. There is something called false modesty that most artists use because they don't want to sound vain or pretentious so they take the conversation in a direction away from the truth and honesty. I've scrutinised his facial expressions and body language and come to the realisation that Francis is putting up smoke screens and barriers to steer people in the opposite way. I'm thinking " come on Francis just come out and say that when you're in a band for 50 years or more then you have to try different styles and even genres to avoid being the same over and over, which is what a lot of people have accused you of doing." Bob Dylan was called Judas when he went from Acoustic to Electric. Artists need to evolve for their own sake not stay in one period of time for the selfish needs of some of their 'fans'
