Not an easy question.
I'm torn between Quo, Hello and BFY.
Probably have to plump for Hello! Yes he wrote amazing songs on BFY, yes he worked with Alan to turn Quo into a very special hard rock experience....
But with Hello he basically gave 7 out of the 8 songs a massive kick up the arse, and to no small extent defined the sound of Quo that they became famous for. For a start, the guy deserved a songwriting credit for Caroline - that song is nothing without his riffing, and amazing with it. Difference between the demos and the finished article really something

There's a lot of him on the WYW album, from the title Track with it's intro. Then you get the rock of YSF and the Ballad of LOAI. Then there is the Middle of Breaking Away which rocks to the slow outro. His work on that album makes it a much more varied experience.

The Live album, simply for the power of his playing on every single track and the fact his vocals were still at the absolute top of their power, I can't think of another album that shows him off as well, the power of Parfitt live never quite translated to on record.

Dog Of Two Head - he didn't write any songs for it, which left them a bit short - hence the Nanana "extractions" just to pad out the album a bit.

Quo for me..
Francis' remarks about Rick being a frustrating writing partner, because he always wanted to make things better and explore a song, hit home...I know he said he wanted three movements in Slow Train but, there's far more in it and Rick and Alan's influence is all over that album.
Obviously every live album has his influence on it, the remaster of the Army album and you can make a case for OTL and Hello for 4500 Times, Caroline and the B Tuning but, he was on fire with the Quo album. Any guitarist knows that it's a natural instinct to play the same rhythm as the other guitarist but, some songs on that album he thought outside the box

Quo easily. The whole thing's a rhythmic monster.

Yes unklemunkle, I thought that.....but on Hello! his guitar style totally changes most of the songs. I can't really decide. Rhino and Francis both say how frustrating Rick was to write with. Yet Rick always said he wrote 4500x with Francis in 5 minutes. I've sometimes wondered how right that was.

Not too sure about that, think he may have been a bit over exaggerating with that one...

Parfitt/Lancster made QUO one of the best Rock albums of all time.
Rick co-wrote 5 of the 8 tracks on HELLO
Played a major role on WYW

I'm very biased and rate Rick Parfitt as the best rhythm guitarist of all time, in fact of the last 4.5 Billion years. As Human Beings we all need to realise how lucky we are to be born at the right time to share the planet with Rick Parfitt, Bowie and all the other great peole who've brought us so much joy and pleasure from their music.
