Thing is the same year he played it much better on his Solo tour. Was it boredom that made him muck about with it with Quo.

Was it boredom that made him muck about with it with Quo. -snip- Maybe it was boredom but who can blame him... it's pretty much down to him being stubborn with the setlist and not changing it for god knows how many years! Think the only drastic change we've had in a while was the Pictures tour

Funnily enough, come to think of it, the only time he's really tried in the last 30 years was on the FF tours... There were gigs in the last 10 years where Rick gave Francis some weird looks on terms of the solos he was playing... Imagine how Alan and John reacted? Alan would've given a good kick in the plums I'd imagine. Actually, I know this ain't the right thread, but on Alan and Frame again and the whole how can anyone hate Alan... Alan actually forgave Francis after all the shite he was put through. That only just occurred to me.

When musicians start messing like this without anything new and interesting coming it, it's boredom, I reckon. I can't think what else would make them do it (other than mogadon maybe).

I post this which has been on YT for 4 years less than an hour later this and the rest of the concert have been pulled. Makes you wonder if management looks in here often.

Wow gatesheadbanger that's great that you kept that! Close result and as I probably voted Hello, it could well be different this time. I always said Hello was my favourite, because of 4500x and ROLD but QUO has definitely become my overall favourite album now and the one I consistantly play in it's entirety (only original 8 tracks, obviously!)

Alan actually forgave Francis after all the shite he was put through. That only just occurred to me. Only for Francis to carry on criticising him after the reunions.

my favourite album and cover by any band at any time.
It's got so many sublime moments which remain timeless for me - there is no other album to which I have a closer sense of 'connection'.
It's obvious that many on here feel exactly the same as me. The fact that the music world and even the central band member didn't feel the same is of no significance to me anymore.

I came home from from a trip to Istanbul last week on Turkish Airlines and this was the only Quo album they had on their on board tv entertainment thingy, so I sat back and turned it up.
Great album, one of the best they ever recorded. They were in the feckin zone at this point.

Or frustration. When I've been taking the lead role in rehearsal jam sessions, and I've been cheesed off with my wider life, I've throttled the hell out of solos, playing just like Frame here, overbending, really digging in with the plectrum... I am sure others on here will know what I mean. Because playing instruments is physical, any tension you feel can express itself in pushing and pulling the strings too hard; you just want to snap those strings; it could be that what Francis is feeling is a sense of anger. He's had a dose of life, just like the rest of us. Thank you for that, GHB, that is something I would never have known.
