To be fair on Richie he carried it off superbly at Newcastle ! Ok he is not Rick but Rick was proud of him. Don't know if he can sing though but he has youth on his side to attract more fans who are not old farts like us...lol. In a very peculiar way I think it would be fantastic if they were all replaced when their time is up. Retain the name and reincarnate the QUO with a new youthful Rock band. RPJ can sing apparently ! There you go ! Problem solved.

As long as the band was credable, yeah why not.! New following, youthful angst in their songwriting, decent songs and they seriously went for it ! Wouldn't be a problem to me. QUO lives on and even makes it back on to radio 1. Stick two fingers up Jo Whilley and her old radio 1 mob. But Detroit yeah I am dreaming the impossible...lol.

No I'm being serious. Just thinking outside the box to change it up a bit. Its not for arguments sake. I would absolutely love to think in my 80`s there was still a credible QUO kicking around. If the original brand was being respected that is. Would get my blessing. It would be alive and kicking, excuse the pun, and not just Nostalgia from my distant past.

Where should the white tele end up.
Is it our buisiness?
Does it matter?
Whatever parfitts family decide is the answer.

I can see where Viking is coming from. I mean bands like Quo are coming to the end of their careers. However what is there to replace them in the modern world, it's kind of uncharted territory for Rock bands, when they end what's next.
Classical music is still played and popular long after the composers have passed away. What will happen when bands like the Stones, Quo, Aerosmith etc all finish for good. The music will not die on record but who will play it live.

TLF great points. If they took off and obviously would be playing their own successful material and throw a few old Quo into their live set out of respect for the founders...I could see it working !

Where should the white tele end up...
I would like to think it will end up there where Rick himself would have wanted it to end up, with whoever that may be

Yeah sorry back on point. I agree totally Victor But it becomes a very valuable commodity. Ricks guitar is symbolic to QUO fans and his family but outside of that I fear what would happen to it !

I wouldn't worry about what will happen to it... it'll either stay with the family who will obviously cherish and look after it or it will be sold to someone for a very large sum of money and they will therefore also cherish and look after it.

(And it helps if the original band has retired.) But hopefully fan tributes will go on for as long as we live, and after if the next generation are lucky.

Hi All, Don't know if anyone came across this ? Allegedly Lindsay has it, very sad state of affairs if Lindsay had to ensure something for her and the kids if true! ...
www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/2782597/rick-parfitts-dying-wish-almost-wrecked-after-widow-he-wrote-out-of-will-took-his-treasured-axe-and-a-replica-had-to-made-for-funeral/
viking55 If you replace the core sound of Quo it is no more, Francis vocals are the last recognisable vocal sound of Quo, any other vocalist trying to take over from Rick/Alan or indeed Francis will have a hard time because of their distinctive sound. Just to use Rhino as an example while he has his own distinct vocals he sounds just like 'Men At Work' lead singer 'Colin Hay'.
While the band members who replace whoever vocally may be competent in their own right the band will simply be a cover band essentially even more than viewed by some today. As has been said on this forum CQ while having recorded a lot of music together it's the FF era music they are more widely known for and play with a smattering of their more recent catalogue thrown in (Please correct if wrong) that is not taking anything away from CQ either.
When Francis leaves the Quo vocal sound goes with him....
Geoff.
