They probably will continue as SQ, and the official line will be "in Rick's memory, it's what he would have wanted." Remember, they've suprised us so many times in recent years. That just made me realise how likely Porter will use this opportunity to fill his greedy pockets again with a "Rick Parfitt Tribute Tour". His last words being "One more aquostic for me lads"

There's a few more deluxe editions due out this year aren't there? I know BFY is one of them which will hopefully be killer. Yes, BFY//JS/NTL were originally intended to be released last year, but they have taken longer to put together so they'll probably be out this year.

Francis will continue as 'Status Quo' until he decides to retire. He won't do anything solo under his own name or with the current lineup as 'Francis Rossi's Status Quo'. That's my prediction. He'll do a solo album, whether he can manage to put a tour together is a different story.

Its over. Even if Rossi carries on under the Quo name its obviously a farce. Sorry but as much as he wants to carry on playing on stage and recording its not Quo without Rick, not by a long shot.
Out of respect for Rick he should jack in the Quo name. It has nowhere to go and anything they do going forward is a kick in the teeth to Rick, and not 'in his memory'.
I really wish he would take a leaf out of Plant/Page/Jones' book. They did the right thing to call it a day when Bonham died. Much respect and their music lives on in its grand, untainted legacy.
Its NO LONGER QUO. Rick is gone. Quo is gone. Let it rest please.

I like the Led Zep reference here.
In fact here is the statement Zep released at the time..................
"We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend, and the deep sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were". Led Zeppelin.
AND, Zep were due to start a major U.S tour, their first in 3 years, just 3 weeks after Bonham's death. But the tour was immediately CANCELLED, even at such short notice.
AND, unlike Quo now, the members of Zep were all just in their early/mid 30's at the time, with the possibility of many more years together as Led Zeppelin, but still they cancelled the tour & ended the band. Friendship & loyalty that they felt was obviously more important than any financial aspects.
I'd like to think that Mick Jagger & Keith Richards would not continue as 'The Rolling Stones' if one of them died. Or if Charlie Watts died for that matter. And I'd like to think that Pete Townshend & Roger Daltrey would not continue as 'The Who' if one of them died. And don't even get me started on bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd etc.
As others have said on various topics, if it has to continue, it should in my opinion be as 'The Francis Rossi Band'. Ending 'Status Quo', now Rick has sadly gone, would be the respectful, loyal & dignified thing to do.

I think they should carry on.
As they sell tickets, sell records make money and they enjoy it,why not.
Status quo, haven't been status quo for for 35 years.the sad loss of Mr parfitt is not going to change that.
Money talks blah blah blah.

LZ had far bigger laurels to rest on (and bigger bank balances!) than Quo did at similar ages. They (LZ) had the comfort of huge incomes and didn't really need to carry on in the same way FR and RP had to after JC and AL left. As an aside, as good as LZ were, I think they had run their course creatively by the time JB passed away. Just look at the creative output of JP and RP had in the years following the demise of LZ....it wasn't great.

The Stones & Who have already lost half their respective band members & still limp along in some form, so they can't really be equated to the Led Zep scenario. If the classic Quo line-up had the same sort of band loyalty referred to regarding Zeppelin, the issues with John would have been resolved before they continued recording back in '82 - even if that meant a delay in the scheduled recording & touring arrangements.

Re the Bonzo situation, it's very unusual for a band to cease operations if one of the rhythm section quits or dies. Even REM didn't, though the circumstances were massively different as it was done in collaboration with Bill Berry, who had been very ill. Zep were unusual, it would need a historian to analyze why. I don't think they would have stopped if Bonzo had died earlier in their career, or before all the problems. OTOH I was aware then that the band was to some extent teetering on the edge both musically and personally, tour or no tour, at the time he was lost.
