If it wasn't for the Berlin attack, Rick would have been the leading story on Sky News this evening.
After all the hits, opening Live Aid, the O.B.E. etc. etc., I suppose 'the blonde one out of Status Quo' was pretty well known.

Thanks MrWaistcoat for the Guardian obit. Great to see this at last - People mocked Status Quo, but they were wrong – this was one of the most powerful British rock bands of all, and at their heart was Rick Parfitt’s crushing rhythm guitar. I think the reunion turned their minds around about Quo.

Thank you, finally got it to load. That is a decent and honest tribute to Rick and the band.
And tell me, has anyone here actually learned more about their life from Leonard Cohen than they did from Dirty Water or Rock'n'Roll? Or 4500? Or Lonely Night?

Rick is also mentioned on the 10pm news on Radio 4 tonight. Brian May says, "Rick Parfitt had joyfully rocked the world."
A whole segment from the arts correspondent covering his career.
I would never have imagined this when I was a teenager.

CNN - David Sinclair ... sorry, I don't recall Live Aid being a turning point in Quo's career. A point of respect maybe, but their best selling albums and biggest audiences were already in the past, and did they get more sales in the USA after that? I don't think they did, and if they did, it was quite temporary. It was an iconic moment in its own right and one which they and we are justly proud of, but it wasn't a break-out point for them. PS CNN may be a break-out point for them though, 'cause the report on the CNN website thinks that they had 50 no. 1s in Britain And get round the fact not many people in the USA know what they have done by calling them "seminal", a good word and strangely apt given their alleged fondness for a "polish".
