Sat in the hotel room. Might as well do another review.
We arrived a bit late to the Cavern Club pre-gig as we managed to get lost and it pissed it down with rain. It was packed solid with loads of familiar faces from The Diamond and Minehead all air guitaring. Stated Quo were just brilliant. 4500 times and IIRM/GGH in the same set! Plus loads of obscure album tracks such as Umelitung, Never Too Late and High Flyer. I'm tempted to say they were better than Quo.
Had dinner in Wetherspoons and headed to the arena. Lounge Kittens were playing and in my opinion, they were awful. Went to the merch stand and bought an REO Speedwagon t shirt as I've got enough Quo shirts.
Went back in the venue after the Lounge Kittens had finished their set. We were on the 5th row. Decent view. REO Speedwagon now. They were again, absolutely fantastic. Most think they're just a band who play cheesy love ballads but they can deliver a bloody rockin set. They played I Saw Her Standing There by The Beatles for obvious reasons. Got a plectrum off the band.
Got chatting to some familiar faces and then the lights went down. For the last time. Well, for me anyway. The band seemed quite chatty and lively which was nice to see. It may have just been me but it didnt seem loud enough. Leon obviously had a cold and Andy's voice seemed a bit off at times. Richie was on top form again and was doing a lot more backing vocals. Francis definitely likes the sound of his own voice, he talked for ages in between songs. Unfortunately there was no Slow Train in the medley like there was in Nottingham and Rock N Roll Music is back in the set.
Went to the barrier and got a setlist at the end and then chatted to some more familiar people.
Overall a brilliant gig. Probably the last electric gig I'll do.
Got to get the train home on Xmas eve now. Oh well, that's Rock N Roll 👍

Glad you enjoyed the afternoon and evening Charley! Did Francis say anything about it being the last night of the last night of the electrics tour? Stated Quo should be praised for their efforts to make this 'last night of the electrics tour' epic and memorable. They went to a lot of trouble to make it special for the fans and I hope to see them again soon. Have a great Christmas!

What a day. Amazing pre-gig in the Cavern thanks to Stated Quo, incredible atmosphere in there, fantastic couple of hours. Quo gig was bittersweet for me, really good gig, no mention of it being anything special from Francis of course but the whole band were making the most of this opportunity to say farewell (for now) I think. Had a nice chat with Richie back in the hotel afterwards too, what a humble young man. Emotional end to a great few months on the road. Full review to follow.
(To all those who've made the effort to see me at gigs over the last few months to say they appreciate the reviews, thank you!)

Stated never fail to deliver a rockin set, top band. Have a good Xmas too ☺

"Last of the electrics" 😭😭 What a con. And we all fell for it.

The Stated gig was better than the arena gig. Imo of course.

Thanks for all the kind words about the Stated afternoon gigs - it was great to catch up with so many Quo fans across the country and play a few different tunes we don't get a chance to play that often.
Playing the Cavern was a real privilege and as an absolute Beatles nut, pretty much my dream gig.
For once, we not only had a setlist but actually stuck to it, so we can confidently say that the set was as follows:
Junior's Wailing Spinning Wheel Blues Little Lady/ Most of the Time Something's Going On In My Head Don't Stop Me Now Runaway (April) Spring, Summer and Wednesdays Is It Really Me/Gotta Go Home Lazy Poker Blues Never Too Late Railroad Forty Five Hundred Times Umleitung High Flyer Don't Waste My Time Roadhouse Blues Over the Edge Big Fat Mama.
Thanks to everyone who supported us on our recent travels and we're really looking forward to getting back out there in 2017.
Jimmy
