Glasgow Apollo SECC Clyde Auditorium The Hydro Solid Rock Cafe O2 Academy Royal Concert Hall ( Aquoustic ) Edinburgh Playhouse Edinburgh Castle Livingston Forum Knockhill Preston Guildhall Manchester Apollo Birmingham NEC Shepherds Bush Empire Hammersmith Odeon ( FF reunion 13&14 ) The Roundhouse ( Aquoustic )
These are the venues that I've seen the band since 1979, must be about 100 shows altogether. I know many have done a whole lot more than this but I reckon I can count myself lucky to see " the number one rock n roll band in the land " so many times, no matter who was in the line up but that's another argument. To me each line up and every musician has performed at 100% and can ask of no more than that. I can't remember ever seeing a bad show, some better than others, yes, but never a bad one.. Tonight I shall be going to The Hydro to see Status Quo for what is probably the last time. I won't say never again because with this band you just don't know. Five years ago I'd never have thought I'd see Lancaster, Coghlan, Parfitt and Rossi together again, but it happened. I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about tonight's gig, not seeing Rick there will be strange and while Richie will do a fine job I'm not sure it'll be the same as before. I'm taking my 21 year old daughter with me to her first Quo concert, she loves Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182 etc but also loves bands like The Who and Kiss so I thought I'd take her along this time to let her see what all the fuss has been about as it's the "final" tour. I really do wish I'd taken her to one of the reunion shows now, that would have been great for her to see.. It's going to be a slightly sad occasion but I'll go along and enjoy the gig as I always have done and hold on to the memories of 37 years...

It's a shame that they didn't plan something special to wrap it all up this year. Of course, it's moot given Rick, but this lame 'last night of the electrics' which brought the fans nothing special, was such a damp squib to go out on. They could have done a 'History of the Eagles' inspired tour or similar. A chance to involve other band members. Ah well.

Maybe they'll do that when they realise there's not enough money in Aquostic or Rick-less electric shows, although I suspect Rossi would prefer to actually do 'History of the Eagles'!

As John Edwards points out, 'it appears we're coming to the end of an era'.
For every year on average since 1979, I've been attending Status Quo gigs, upsetting firstly the bank manager coz I was broke, and since 1986 upsetting H.M. The Wife, coz I was more broke and spending the housekeeping! I've loved it all - the energy of Frantic Four days, the queueing up outside Hammersmith Odeon in freezing Februarys (gratefully accepting hot tea from a nursing home kitchen around the corner) - travelling to faraway places (Rotterdam, Maastricht) and find that there's a Quo gig nearby, and the 2013 FF reunion. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
But once Quo had announced that they were 'hanging up their electric guitars' at the end of 2016 (I know they're not really, but leave that aside) and going acoustic, I felt it was time Quo and I went our separate ways. Rick Parfitt's heart attack and eventual retirement from the performing with the band has only hardened that feeling, but I wanted to go just one last time to say my farewells.
I suppose it had to happen after just shy of 50 years, but as most agree on here, without Rick it's a sad way to go out.
To Francis, Rick, Alan, John, Andy, Jeff, Matt, Leon and most recently Ritchie - so long and thanks for all fun I had at your shows. Get well soon Rick. Looking forward to seeing Rhino on the RR tour.
