The Friday at Hammersmith 2014 edges it for me out of the 5 times I saw them in 13/14.
An absolutely incredible night.
Rhino reckoned it wasn't special though - Which proved to me beyond doubt that he's a chippy resentful guy with an agenda.

Rhino reckoned it wasn't special though - Which proved to me beyond doubt that he's a chippy resentful guy with an agenda. To be fair, he said it wasn't AS special for him as the previous year. And that is fine.... some members on here have expressed exactly the same opinion.... Oh and by the way, I agree with you that for me, the Friday night at Hammy was the best

I think Rhino had long said they should do it - and credit to him for that
After it happened, he will have been taken back by the reaction, and if he's human....probably worried for his own position. I think he merrily joined in with the "gold silver bronze" argument. I think this thread shows that the fans certainly didn't think the 2nd coming was noticeably less special than the first. For me it was even better.

Jesus I made a mess of quoting Viv, but anyway for me Rhino is Rossi's henchman which is why he's managed to keep his job for the last 30 years without contributing anything in the way of artistic or creative merit to the band.
If Rossi had been publically positive about the FF shows then I have no doubt that Rhino would not have dared express such a negative view.
Anyone who was at Hammersmith 2014 will know it was special, to state the contrary view is totally perverse, and I think Rhino only said it because he knows he can get away with it..

Both of the tours were special, certainly... but what about the first time we saw them play together in 30 years on the Hello Quo documentary. 5 years ago, at the Shepperton Studios-

Both of course. For tiny differing reasons. 2014 probably pips 13 at the post only because they were playing tighter on the 2nd tour and the extended 4500 Times was sensational.
Oh and Rick looked bloody cool on the 14 tour. It was almost the 1976 look all over again.

Both! Just a bit surprised there is a debate about those magical concerts.

Both! Just a bit surprised there is a debate about those magical concerts. Yes, the important thing is that they were miles better than anything else since 1984.

Both! They played a bit better and tighter in 2014, especially friday at Hammy was marvellous! But the extreme magic in 2013, after more than thirty years waiting, dreaming and hoping was stronger on an emotional level. All in all the best three gigs (one 2013, two 2014) I've ever visited!

Both! Just a bit surprised there is a debate about those magical concerts. Well, the debate is my fault as I started the thread! Reason for the thread is simple : the idea of "gold to silver to bronze" was said many times from within the CQ camp. The poll results are clear. 89% of fans either thought both tours were equally amazing, or that 2014 was better

Musically, the performance was definitely better in 2014 - but there's more to a gig than that, especially after a 30 year gap! Rossi was foolish to promptly slam the door on any further reunions, sometimes it's better to see where things go rather than to race to hasty decisions. At the very least, it could have been left open as a side project.

The gold silver bronze thing was never about the musical value of the concerts, it was about how they (Francis, then) saw it from the band side - all the excitement of 2013, he didn't see how that could be maintained. Not saying he was right, that is just what he felt about it, but he never said that was about the music itself. Contrary, he acknowledged that they were tighter in 2014.
