OK freewilly , you've made your point. Can you not let others have their view about Francis? I'm disappointed in how things have turned out. But I also think life is never as cut and dried as you're making out. TBF, I wasn't actually having a go at Francis. I just basically listed the things he says he practically admitted to doing and asked why does everyone still defend everything he does? It doesn't make any sense to me at all I just asked a question as to why everything the man does and says, seems to be defended by the "usual suspects" It was highly inappropriate for him to say that to Leon, given where and when it took place. Leon is a session musician. I don't like or hate the guy but, imagine how he felt when that was said to him, joking or not, on stage, in front of all those people? On a side note, I should have called myself "Big Boss" instead of "FreeWilly" Big Boss is one of my fave characters....Bollix anywaysre: your first point - I think we know that now. He certainly lacks any tact, that's for sure. That's how I see his remark about Leon. Not nice to say out loud in front of a large audience but if they are genuinely hanging up the electrics, then maybe its true. So are you saying that one who sees his action differently is defending him? I'm simply curious. As my comment above shows, I can certainly explain his actions in other ways but I don't believe I'd be defending him. Simply pointing out that nothing is as straightforward as we might think.

Well, I'll put it this way... I genuinely read every post on here, on topics that relate to that band. I remember every post and remember who sides with who and who retains the middle ground.* I don't call you out over anything because I know your viewpoint and I know when you say something to explain Francis' remarks, I know you're coming from a place that means well and is objective. I know the people who people defended Francis over the indefensible. I even remember them from the official board. That's where I'm coming from *Have had trouble with my memory lately since what happened me, as evident by me mixing Paul70 up with someone else Once it's back though, there'll be chaos

Thanks for explaining FW.
I guess people will like who they like, and defend them too. And we all see things differently. For those of us who disagree, we can say, as my Yorkshire relatives will say, 'there's nowt so queer as folk.'

Unfortunately, he hadn't met my poor MIL. Age is like a black hole, everything changes as you get closer to it. Sea levels rise. Young folk get taller. Your rock n roll heroes cease to be heroes, or maybe even icons, and turn into ordinary people with wrinkles. Nobody warns us about this! I don't blame your memory, but there is chaos anyway, just look at the news

So you don't think he was joking on stage? If if it was Parfitt who said it instead of Rossi, would you think he was joking then or would you go on one of your patentet rants? See, this is exactly what I'm talking about...You're getting agitated now in your defence of Rossi. It's actually ridiculous. Even throwing a "subtle" insult in there at me too. Astonishing stuff tbh The mere fact that you can't see, joking or not, it was an inappropriate thing to say, given the time and place, is pretty shocking. Difference is, Rick would never say anything like that and never has. But, I would also give him shit if he did say it....Like the times I gave him grief over the incident in 1985, his drug taking, his laziness in the song writing department in the 90s etc etc If only United had your defence... Freewilly I think you protest too much. You were happy with Rossi's Quo for years. Whereas some of us knew all along and yes Rick is complicit in Rossi's Quo. His knife was just as sharp in Alan's back.

Sadly though, that bubble burst when I realised how snide and farcical the whole thing became.

Sadly though, that bubble burst when I realised how snide and farcical the whole thing became. I've just realised how things go in pairs. Rick and Francis thought about going off and forming another band without Alan, back in the 70s (or was it the 60s, I can't remember now) and then did it in the 80s. They had End Of gigs back in the 80s, and they are having some more now. They were a pop group in the 60s and went back to being a pop group in the 80s (apart from live, of course). Rick has a tendency to leave one wife and then go back to one of his exes. (Wife no. 3 has not joined the merry go round yet but it's early days.) Francis predicted he would go bald in the 60s, and now he's gone and done it! Alan invited Rick to join Quo in the 70s, will he invite him to join him in another band now? Watch that space!
