I am extremely frustrated when I read the various supposed fans determine that the current line up is not Status Quo. Every band has personnel changes, especially if they have been around for a while. The band name normally stays the same. You either like the band or you don't. If you don't then what value are you adding bitching and sniping about the band members, especially Rossi. Ironically, this only really happened after the Frantic Four did their two tours. Give the boys a break and either support the band or move on. No. It gives you and the rest of the CQ fans on FB something to do. None of you seem to have jobs, wonder why???

It's a personal thing, so if the current lineup is Quo to you then be loud and proud about it, quite right.

Keith Richards leaves the Stones.Daltrey jacks the Who in what are you left with? .Some bands just cannot take the hit of a big name going. How can you imagine that Status Quo without RP is anything but a pastiche of the real thing..Quo are a dead duck now..nothing new to offer and no new songs.Good luck to all those who enjoy this group...but Status Quo it ain't.

Happened when John suddenly vanished from QUO , guessing your a young whipper snapper who knows no better , and what STATUS QUO meant to us STATUS QUO fans back then . Maybe young fella, perhaps not..true thing that there have been somekinda angst writings since ff gigs were played. good post steve anyway, some lads here have been fans from 70's, 80's, ..theres 90'!! my personal quo gigs were times with Pete Kircher

Just look at this as an example of a big name leaving a band. The first picture is the original classic line up and here's the latest incarnation without 4 of the original members

Ok, So I was fishing and caught a couple.
I have posted previously under different ID’s although I prefer to read what’s going on rather post every 5 minutes. I did post regularly on the official board until it closed. In addition, I did have a job for 40 years, before I retired.
I first got into quo in 74 and was at every concert at the Glasgow Apollo between 1975 and 1984. Those were great days. In my opinion, between 1970 and 1983 there were few classic albums, but there were some good albums with classic tracks. The reason Quo survived is that they were outstanding live. Since 84, I have seen them about 8 times and they have always been outstanding. Quo V2 recorded a number good albums and some not so good.
I last saw them at the ‘Just Doin’ it’ tour and decided that was my Last. (end on a high)
I have bought every album up to Aquostic (Aquostic 2 is a step too far)
I was at all 4 Frantic Four gigs in Glasgow. The first tour was amazing and I had hoped they would record an Album. The second tour was good but not great and I would have preferred if they changed the set to include some of the late 70’s repertoire and perhaps some tracks from MKGS and DOTH. A third tour with a similar set would have gone a long way to destroy the original bands legacy. The quo business model was to do around 100 gigs a year to keep things ticking over. There was no way that Alan could return to that sort of schedule.
So I had hoped that they would have had an exit strategy. FF tour, Album, Unplugged, Final tour, which I would have gone to, and then retired the name.
There are obviously many who are happy to support the current version of Quo, even without Rick. I wish Quo (electric and acoustic) all the best and may even go to see them at some stage. (Clips I have seen on You Tube suggest they are still credible live, although Rick is sorely missed)
PLG – Would be interesting if they can obtain a backer, which I think will be difficult. I also think that touring will be a challenge for Alan and possibly Rick.
Finally, there was some minor criticism of the band prior to the Frantic Four gigs and then it just went crazy, which is why they closed the message board.
I also think that it is remarkable that Status Quo (in various formats) has been around for more that 50 years.

The current band that are touring are the Francis Rossi band. Nowt wrong with that, they might be a very good tribute act even, but they aint Status Quo.
They might have a vague claim if Rick were back.
But give me FF anyday.
This is not a football team where players get subbed, this was a top of the league Premiership team, where taking Waddle, George Best and Cruyff off and replacing them with loanees and youth team players aint going to cut the mustard.
Hence the current 3rd Division strugglers
