From Rhinos' last instalments of his 2015 Tour Log, a couple of interesting points:
'So, here we go again, I'm in Oberhausen, waiting to play tonight on the Last Night of the Electrics (boo hoo!!!) tour. I don't want to stop doing the loud bit, I mean it's already cost me most of my hearing in one ear, so what's the problem here. Eh? Speak up!! Still, that's what it is, '
Kind of confirms only Francis wants to stop playing electric.
'then the Hallenstadion in Zurich. Why is that gig always so special for us? It's a 90 minute blast, one of our favourite venues, I was gutted when I finished and realised it was going to be the last time we were playing there, then I saw a flyer for 2 years time! I duuno guv, honest.'
Add to that the recently announced further FIVE electric dates in Germany in July/August next year I think we can take it that the electric set will carry on (and very probably tour in the winter of 2017)

I wonder if Porter's got Rossi's replacement already lined up!

Well spotted. So I went to the Quo site and the last tour log for Rhino is indeed 2015. But the quote is correct. That log covers the whole of last Winter's tour. The UK leg is one short paragraph. "Uk tour wasn't much to write home about if I'm honest, although Glasgow was as great as ever, and Norman Watt Roy from the Wilco Johnson band is one baddass bass player. Anyway if you've got this far without a suicide attempt it means you're waiting for the juicy bits. Well you'll just have to bear with me won't you." Interesting slip of the fingers with that opening para quoted above though.

As I don't go to see them I hadn't realised that tour had started last year.

When did TLNOTE tour begin? Well it supposedly wasn't announced publicly until 1st February this year - see link - whereas last year's winter tour was called Accept No Substitute (as gav has mentioned )

Of course electric will continue. There is no money to be made from acoustic.
How Porter/Francis expected there to be is baffling. The demand wasn't there last time when they tried. After ballsing-up on Aquostic II, they should now realize that it's a complete no-go.
The problem with Quo in recent times is that they have only looked a year or two ahead at a time. Understandable given their ages, but no coherent plan has meant a significant loss in income. Why release a greatest hits album in 2015 when a 50th anniversary is in 2017? Or an acoustic album in a year that you're meant to be promoting the last ever electric tour? Doesn't make any sense.
I know how Francis says he hates nostalgia and Porter also wants to promote the band in new, exciting ways, but neglecting the back catalogue has been a big mistake. The FF and the various re-issues could have made Quo serious money - if promoted properly - but they saved that effort for the likes of Quofestive and Bula Quo that were always going to fail.
Add in the factor of giving control over to Radio 2 to pick the singles and they've been left scrambling for ways to bring in the dough.

If you think about it without the emotions of Rick's health problems. It was probably always the plan to go into 2017 with some gigs. The band knew they would sell tickets for the "last tour".
Plus these days venues have to be booked well in advance, look at the FF tours. The rift between Alan and the band was in 2011. I suspect then it was decided to do a tour to earn some money. Hello Quo was in 2012 it's how business works these days.

Hi All, Here's a thought could this whole affair of LNOTE tour and the Acoustic way forward announcement just be a publicity stunt dreamed up by porter ? Just to get us fans into the gigs ? Could it be they aren't making that much money these days especially now that RP is no longer part of the playing band ?
Like some have suggested the LNOTE tour will more than likely not be as they know Quo couldn't possibly carry on with an acoustic set maybe they should issue all the band with woolly pullovers now they are going the folk inspired rout maybe even modernise the name a little maybe Quonners ?.....
Geoff.

As I don't go to see them I hadn't realised that tour had started last year. It didn't, 2015 was 'Accept No Substitute'.
Rhino has finished writing the 2015 log whilst touring the 2016 LNOTE tour.

As far as I can work out, Rhino "is" sitting in Oberhausen in November 2016, saying he's going to finish the 2015 Tourlog, and then not doing it and moving seamlessly on to 2016, leaving certain people (like me) very confused. And then he sticks in a para about 2015 right at the end.
