For those who think Quo stopped in 1976 please continue sitting in your darkened room clutching your signed copy of Piledriver and splashing yourself liberally from a bottle of Denim aftershave.
For those who have had the temerity to move with the times what's the betting on Richie being allowed to belt out a number or two on his home territory? For enabling the tour to happen surely he deserves it, especially considering the praise being heaped on him by Francis on interviews. Also what's the betting he gets introduced as "Paddy" in Dublin?

Oh look at this... Blue balls here laying down the law and calling the shots For the record, I did move with the times. I'm not stuck in the 70s purely because I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s. 1970s Quo were the shit upon the shit. It's really not that hard to understand. Maybe if you stop sitting in that darkened room, clutching your signed copy of Thirsty Work and splashing yourself liberally with a bottle of perfume for women, you'd see that. Ripping the piss on here isn't an option. And fuck no he's not gonna let him sing in front of a handful of people

If you sincerely believe that you've "moved with the times", bluehighway, catch yourself on - you're on a Status Quo forum!

I meant in terms of SQ, though I admit as far as they were concerned the 90s should be forgotten musically, but lots of the bands I loved and saw in the 70s are still around with much varied line ups but that doesn't make their gigs pointless, The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac would have been written off decades ago otherwise.

I'm sure for some the Stones weren't the same after Brian Jones. Fleetwood Mac for some ended with the departure of Peter Green. Equally, some might say their interest in AC/DC ended with Bon Scott's death. I know one chap who only liked pre- Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden. & so on. For those people subsequent gigs are pointless. The same applies to Quo at different points for different people, but maybe Quo will be still going in another 50 years with a steadily evolving line-up - like the Drifters!

This whole "moved on with the times" argument is getting a bit tiresome, it's like when you don't accept certain musical changes you're supposedly stuck in past times. Well..even after the glory period of Quo stopped I, and I dare say lots of other ff fans, kept following them for years and years, critisized it when I didn't like it and praised it when i did like it. Moving on with the times does not mean one has to accept bad music. As you say other bands have changed, Black Sabbath, Maiden, you name them... the big difference is that lots of other bands changed in ways that I could actually like. I don't think FF fans are nessecarely against change at all. I think the problem is the way the changes are being made and carry out. Just because the times change for a band doesn't mean I have to accept it when the music is of bad quality and that has nothing to do with being stuck in the past. If Quo would have made a decent rock album at this point, even if that would have been rock in a different style, but a good rick album I would have been a lot happier then I am with what they are doing now. As far as your question goes... no I don't think Richie will be allowed to sing...then again with Rossi you never know, he might very well allow it to try and erase the memory of Parfitt a bit

As far as I'm concerned it ain't Quo anymore, won't go to concerts or buying albums,or listen to eventual newly writtewn and released songs (unless it's Rick playing and singing) so for me the lad can do whatever he pleases,I'm sure he's fantastic on his instrument).I just don't care.

He did get to do some backing vocals and had a lot of local support at the Dublin gig.
BTW, it was far from the disaster gig some had predicted, the "1000 tickets sold" was complete crap of course, it was basically full (not the whole arena granted) and the atmosphere was brilliant. Top afternoon in the nearby Green Room bar as well. Full review to follow.

You just contradicted yourself and embarrassed yourself! I went looking on Ticketmaster this morning and had tickets for blocks A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M and N, while I was also offered standing tickets. An attendee, who was at the gig, also confirmed to me that certain blocks of the arena were curtained off and were empty. (She was actually online at the time when the band were playing ffs) "1000 tickets sold was complete crap of course" The only crap being spouted round here is by you

I was there last night; without Rick I knew this would probably be my final time witnessing one of my favourite bands live. The atmosphere was amazing and it did look pretty full. It was incredibly strange not seeing Rick onstage and it is definitely not Status Quo without him. The show though was excellent; I love Quo and had seen them only twice in the last 5 or 6 years, so seeing these songs I love played so well was an experience. It doesnt mean I agree if Francis decides to continue without Rick into next year, but given options - a Quo playing these songs live or an end to this band, I would chose the former. They will be gone very soon, and we will never see Francis up there again. I for one an delighted I was there last night. PS great craic in Greeen Room after gig also
