So, Series 2 has just finished screening here in NZ. Probably the darkest, grittiest, most well written drama I've seen on the box for quite some time. Filming it in some crappy wet & bleak Northern town in wet winter just added to the suspense imo. Series 1 was great, too.

Love it too. After series 1 I couldn't imagine on how they could improve with series 2 as that story felt complete. But they did. Now I hope for series 3. Glad to know its being appreciated around the world.

Geoff. Its a crime/cop drama, set in Yorks about a police woman (Sarah Lancashire) at sergeant level, very good at job, bit gobby/verbal. Part of it is about her family (actually really good stuff but don't want to say too much and spoil it) and then there is crime they have to solve on the theme of drugs/poverty/what makes us happy. The writer, Sally Wainwright is great on dialogue and characters. Its both funny/dark and gritty. And one for both the men and women. Some big moments of violence but not in every ep. And top British acting.

I enjoyed it too. It's not unnecessarily complicated like so many shows seem to be these days. I lose track of what's going on in a lot of them, especially when they start jumping about between the past and present.

loved it but you had to really concentrate to make out what some of the dialog was cos it came out a bit muffled.

Hi All, CG, I have watched the first two episodes and glad you and others recommended it enjoying it so far even if the vicar from Grantchester is on holiday in Yorkshire playing the completely opposite character and being a bit of a perv......
