Parfit Bown Coghlan Edwards
Assuming it's not viable for Alan to goto the UK for "test the water" low key gigs.. why not?
I reckon Andy could do a decent job of playing lead and doing a spot of singing and harmonica. This band would be justified in playing whatever it liked from Quo's back catalogue
Or alternatively, Andy could play bass and have Baz from Predatur on lead

Hi All, Very conceptual idea but Rhino does sound like the lead singer of Men At Work - Colin Haley and although the music may pass with Rick and Alan both singing their anthems it would just be another cover band IMHO....
Geoff.

As long as Rick sings and Andy doesn't play keyboards, I might think about it.

Really I was aiming this thread at fans who might be interested in seeing a solo Rick tour. Would it make any difference to you who the players were?
I think if Rick wanted to attract hardcore fans, he would need to make it clear that the gigs would be loud, heavy and rockin. Assuming AL couldn't attend, it would be great to see John on drums with him. On the other hand, if Rick toured with hired hands to play a mix of hits and recorded delivery stuff, I don't think I'd go for that

It's all about the groove. I'd much rather see JC's Quo than the current Status Quo show & would be very interested to see Rick do a few gigs with them. However, I'd be reasonably interested in seeing whatever Rick did next, unless it's him & Francis continuing their quest to become The Kalin Twins MkII!

Alan might struggle with the playing, but his voice is still remarkably good. I'd still want him included and choose him as singer along with Rick, if we hypothetically were to take this type of formation as a given. That would leave the controversial situation of having both Rhino and Alan in the same band - especially with Rhino as bass player! Please humour me and don't take me too seriously with this post - its just a bit of devil's advocate

My impression is that Edwards and Parfitt don't get along were well.

My impression is that Edwards and Parfitt don't get along were well. Interesting. I've often wondered what the impact of the reunions has been on Rhino's relationship with Rick. Rick made no secret of wanting to dump CQ and keep the FF going. OK that's what the fans wanted.....but if I was Rhino, I would have perceived that as extreme disloyalty and it would have pissed me off completely. Being dumped - or talked openly about being dumped - when you have been in a band 30 years...... Well, if Rhino is cool about everything that has happened and has been said, the guy must be a very chilled out and well sorted individual who deserves our respect. But if he's very put out, I can't say as I blame him I wonder if there is a problem?

Interesting. I've often wondered what the impact of the reunions has been on Rhino's relationship with Rick. Rick made no secret of wanting to dump CQ and keep the FF going. Did he? My impression was simply that he didn't agree with Francis closing the door to any further reunions. Good question! I thought he did. I remember the interview he did on the tour bus after the 2014 reunions, and he was glowing about how heavy it was, how great the shows were, and that he'd love it to continue. Whether he meant dump CQ (that's how I took it) or simply have more FF "projects" is open to interpretation. Either way, his comments would have pissed me off completely if I was Rhino. Compare the interview with Francis on the same bus, the difference between the pair was striking. Whatever Rick meant, one thing seems crystal clear to me : he far prefers the FF shows to CQ shows, he thinks the FF are better , and he thinks it must be better to have the original members playing the original songs they wrote and arranged together. He was "turned on" and had "forgotten how heavy we used to be". I don't think Rick has been "turned on" by CQ in a long, long time I know that every now and then, an ardent fan of CQ will pop up and remind us we should have all moved on. Rick did move on, but I think he wants to move back. And I'm sure this will have created some tensions in the CQ camp. I don't think they'd be human if that wasn't the case.

Rick did move on, but I think he wants to move back. And I'm sure this will have created some tensions in the CQ camp. I don't think they'd be human if that wasn't the case. I'm first and foremost a fan that dates back to the glory days of the FF, and these former days, as reinforced by the reunions, remain unbeatable. However, I've continued to buy and very much enjoy CQ material for the last 30 yrs and wanted them to play it on a sustained basis at their gigs.
With this in mind, and their complete failure to represent their own catalogue, I have very much regressed to the past in completely the opposite direction to any 'ardent CQ fan' who still thinks we should all move on.
I'm confident I'm far from the only one. Its not only one or two band members past and present who have regressed and been reminded of the past by those reunions. There has after all been no comparison to make for 30 years.
I think that Francis and management have underestimated the sea change of opinions since those reunion gigs - and its no surprise that the 'electric tour' wind-down is such an anti climax and pigs ear of closure to a career that has spanned 50 yrs.
