Well it's been a while (thanks Twod for the reminder!!). Well, to say the least, it was a return to form, and what a return to form it was. Start to finish, not a bad track (nearly). Like a Zombie is a cracking opener, and All We Really Wanna Do which follows it is also brilliant, and catchy. Fakin' The Blues is just... well... Fakin' brilliant. One Man Band is without a doubt one of the greatest songs the band has recorded in the last 3 decades. The title track divides the album up nicely from the hard hitting One Man Band to this nice little ballad. Now... don't stab me for this... but for years I always preferred this version of Can't Give You More. It was just so heavy compared to the original, but now the ROATW Remix is out, well... that version is in my top 20. Again, the lovely Warning Shot to add a bit of variation to the album. In all honesty, the next two are my favourite Quo covers along with On The Road Again (not exactly a great selection to choose from). The next two are just great hard hitting rockers with No Problems having a timeless riff and Good Sign just being one of Rick's finest moments. The less said about Tommy the better, although it's better than the Perfect Remedy version. Nothing Comes Easy... ah... in my top 5 easily, without a doubt, with the riff, the dual vocals, aww I love it. Fame Or Money is... plain, but likeable, catchy. The Price Of Love is just a class song no matter who it's done by, but Quo's heaviness just add to it so much more. Any version of Forty Five Hundred Times is immense.
So there you have it, a solid 8 out of 10 let down by that abomination that is Tommy.

Not a classic by any means but not a duffer by what we had been used to. The best album since NTL and probably still better than anything that followed it, although Heavy Traffic was probably the closest.
A very well produced album giving a great sound but it did include a couple of dodgy efforts. Not in the army but in the forces? Don't worry, we've got a song for that! Rock 'til You Drop? Are you kidding me? Sounds like you've collapsed pal. And what the f##k were they thinking of by sticking a rehashed Tommy/Tommy's in Love on another album? Like we didn't endure enough pain last time.
Top plus points.... I bloody love the covers of Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" and Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home". Their updated version 4500 Times is an absolute stonker too. Fantastic.
Like A Zombie 5/10 All We Wanna Do 5/10 Fakin' The Blues 5/10 One Man Band 5/10 Rock 'til You Drop 2/10 Sounds like you've dropped. Can't Give You More 6/10 Warning Shot 2/10 In the forces again. Let's Work Together 7/10 Bring It On Home 7/10 No Problems 6/10 Good Sign 6/10 Tommy 0/10 Oh please not again! Nothing Comes Easy 4/10 Fame or Money 5/10 Price Of Love 5/10 4500 Times 10/10
Gives a steady 5/10, which isn't great but better than several of the albums that preceded it and far better than most that followed.

An album of covers and cast offs, cobbled together. This was meant to be another covers album until they realised they had a few tracks they could add to it and release it as a 'proper' album. I've not played it in over 10 years apart from the odd listen to 4500x.
Overrated*

From my, admittedly limited, perspective this seems to be at or near the pinnacle of post '81 output. Pitiful.

7/10. If you took away the covers & Tommy & replaced with the b-sides would have gave it a 8.5/10. The re-recorded songs are great but would of liked more new original songs. I liked how they promoted that with the 4 gigs in one day, amazing imo. I wonder how the penquin club from the video are going these days?

Well, aside from a changed perspective as I have, I will try and review this album as recorded by a band in its own right.
I highly rate RYTD. Its a favourite CQ album along with UTI and ISOTFC. Tommy, predictably, gets slated - but I actually don't mind the song and think that the 'progressive' version on this album with the guitar solo > fade out, is almost like a bit of tongue in cheek contrariness from Francis based on the reaction it got as ultra naff and lightweight on Perfect Remedy.
There isn't basically a track I skip on this album. Excellent at best to 'ok' at worst. I think the cover songs work well.
Like A Zombie is a great opener and the rest follow in an ideal order for offering something slightly different. I think RTYD is a really good ballad - and love the video that went with it.
So:
Like A Zombie 9/10 All We Wanna Do 8/10 Fakin' The Blues 7.5/10 One Man Band 7/10 Rock 'til You Drop 8/10 Can't Give You More 8/10 Warning Shot 8/10 Let's Work Together 7.5/10 Bring It On Home 6/10 No Problems 6/10 Suzi Quatro would do a better version of this Good Sign 5/10 The shouty Robert Plant imitations from Rick spoil it a bit for me Tommy 6/10 Nothing Comes Easy 8/10 Fame or Money 8/10 Price Of Love 7.5/10 4500 Times 9/10 A very, very good version imo.

Another let down,I'd given up by now..the first track should have been called Ring of a Zombie with a little bit of Caroline..I'd begun to hate those guitar intro's of Rossi's.Is this really some of the people who played and wrote Is There a Better Way,Little Lady/Most of the Time,Backwater/Just Take Me(a blistering classic that seldom get's a mention,it's so good we take it for granted)Roll Over Lay Down and Don't Waste My Time.
A 5/10 effort if it was recorded by Mr Big or Slik...fcuk all for a QUO album

This is about where I'm at. The songs I like, I really like. The ones I don't, suck. I'll buy it for the 5 or 6 that I enjoy a lot.

A very overrated effort. The cover versions are dire, especially Lets Work Together. No need for 4500x and Cant Give You More, done well previously by Proper Quo. One Man Band, Fakin The Blues and All We Really Wannna Do are decent though.
4/10.

Never heard it. Probably never will.
Hey YMSB, just out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why haven't you listened to any of the 'new' stuff?
