Is it just me, probably is. But since EOTR and some subsequent statements from a band member I actually feel that he was taking the piss all along, from the moment he got his money he laughed at us, our dress, physical appearance, our opinions. As long as it was all about him and nothing more.
I actually feel a bit sorry for anyone who's had anything to do with this untrustworthy, disloyal nasty man on a personal or professional level.
Constantly using his own weakness of character as some sort of positive, cocaine use being the usual one, he is now free to strut about and indulge in this constant boring silly persona full of unfunny wisecracks that have nothing to them. He is music's answer to Ernie Wise once Eric had gone.
I can't bear the man.

In one aspect I say good on him for staying in the game for so long and being successful at that, despite the sell out and cringe worthy tactics he took to stay in the limelight at any expense. I guess he made a good living out of the Quo name and hard to begrudge him that.
But ... Quo as a band will always leave a bad taste in my mouth for what Rossi did to the brand and its legacy. Hard to fathom anyone almost obliterating their past and trying to rewrite history when it is clear to everyone who lived through this band just how brilliant the classic line up was and how he owes 100% of his success to that 1972 - 1981/84 period of the band. Instead of shitting on the old Quo he should be praising how damn good they were and that the new Quo are simply a different version under his command and direction. Without them all as Quo doing what they did back in the day, Rossi would never have made it past the club circuit playing his cabaret music (which is actually true for all of them as individual musicians), hence the magic of the four was only there when combined as a whole.
It's funny though, 30 years of shitting on the classic line up and its musical legacy and now with his talk shows, it is ALL about that period of the band.
At the end of the day he couldn't work with John, he couldn't work with Alan, he put up with, because he could exert control, Rick. He had a falling out with management, with Bob Young (even if contrived) and god knows who else has suffered under his egotistical ways. At the end of the day the buck stops with him. I love him for what he contributed to the classic Quo and idolised him for over a decade but will forever consider him the catalyst for taking the Quo name and dragging it through the dirt to suit his own personal agenda and having ZERO respect for the fans who put him where he is/was.
But hey, it happens every day in the business world. I guess the music industry is no different.

Ironically, there's an argument for claiming Rossi peaked 50 years ago & yet he's proved himself the great survivor

I don't even think along these personal lines. I don't know him. Never spent more than 5 minutes in his company and, even then, only when he's had his Quo hat on.
He was my hero for a long time. He probably still is to some extent (hence the avatar), but you grow out of that. Or at least you should. Mind you, seeing him in his pomp back in the mid-70's still sends shivers down my spine. Trouble is, there's very little filmed material to see, which actually adds to the mystique.
I might moan about it occasionally, but I don't care about his personality. I don't care about his musical tastes or his drive to run Quo like a business, ploughing a furrow through the light entertainment/daytime TV industry. I respect him immensely for what he's given me, even from a distance, throughout my entire adult life.
But he's not my mate and if he happens to be someone who, if I knew him well, I'd rather not spend time with, I don't care about that either.
Fandom is a very fickle thing. If the object of the worship does the opposite of what the fan wants, he's the devil incarnate for ruining the expectation. Even if that expectation is unrealistic (anyone read any of the K-Pop revelations lately?). Because when the 25-year old becomes the 40-year old and beyond, they change. Don't we all.
He's made some wrong decisions and he's made some right ones. That makes him precisely the same as the rest of us. If that's a shock to the system, it's a shock to my system that anyone can't see that.
Or maybe it isn't.

Time and time again, he's told us what we didnt want to hear. And taken the band in the directions we didn't want. That doesn't make him a bad person
I think he's complex. The band has only continued all this time because he has removed all the confrontations and things that made carrying on impossible for him.
I think some fans still feel embittered about what happened to the band. Really we should all be over all that by now, painful as some photos are videos still are!
He was genuinely funny and engaging on tunes and chat. I like him, but yes he says the wrong things sometimes. I've never heard a bad word said about him by roadies or family members.

These days it seems, more than ever before, that it’s all just about the money. As we are all now getting on (assuming you are a long-time fan) most of that era of bands and artists are reaching the end of their careers so they will extract as much money out of us as they can before they go. How many times have you bought Quo’s PYE era material? Yet here it is again presented in a nice new box set. Do I want it? Yes, I do but I got made redundant in February so that’s not going to happen. I have all the deluxe editions of this album or that and they would probably pull me in again with whatever format comes out next (but financially, not now). The prices of everything seems extortionate to me, books costing £50-£100 pounds, Mark Knopfler’s new album £50 on vinyl. No thanks I’m done with it all. I love the guys for the music they’ve given us, no-one hit the mark for me like the classic Quo did, but I’ll no longer be a cash cow.

Why get upset blaming him for everything. The bloody band had already peaked with them all in it. 1982 & B2B were shite. They all contributed to them. Twas the end of an era then. Some say 1976 !

Sad old, bitter men going off on here!
Fully endorse the comments of Mr Mortified, we don't own him. He is a businessman free to do what he wants. Don't like it, don't buy it. Above all don't live it.
Showing gratitude for the phenomenal catalogue of work out there should nullify any need to attack one person for changing things to keep relevant. Just makes you internally angry, nothing else. But such is the way of the interwebz these days.
As for all that has happened, to paraphrase a well known poet - "can't be done, poop, it's done, and thank Christ for yesterday.."

Why not just listen to the bits you enjoy and ignore the rest? I don't think Rossi will have had any personal vendettas against any of you - he just did what he wanted to with his career and, ultimately, has had a 50 year career. We'd probably all settle for the lifestyle he has now, so well done, mate.

EoTR was 40 years ago ffs…. i dont know what sort of life someone has to worry about this in 2024. we don’t know these guys, what they had to put up with , but this is their job. seems mad to us, but not them. when i was 16 i thought they’d never split, didnt take drugs etc. but they did…john left ( sacked, whatever ) & got over it, likewise alan & i got over it… i’m 60 now & i still enjoy seeing them… it hasnt been 1975 for a long time & i find some of these threads astonishing … &

I’d take 1981-2024 if it meant we were still getting 71-76
