Need a bit of quo injection into it nice lyrics I like this a lot. I think it was due to be the 2nd single after Give myself to love, but because that flopped they didn't bother with Darlin'

I always liked this album. I know Francis had a problem with it - something to do with the production, mixes and (maybe) Tony McAnaney's influence? Anyway, I wish he had included a couple of the songs from it when he toured solo - Darlin' in particular, I think would have worked live.

I thought it was a new discovered song, but now you can see how much I played the first Rossi album (but I have the single in the three formats released, just because someone offered me those and said "Just for the collection", never searched the original CD of the full album).
I never heard a word of why this "solo" album it's full of songs from another guy and only 3 songs from Rossi IIRC (and two of them were old songs reworked), but I heard the story of Rossi getting angry because the album used the wrong mixes. Also, from that time I heard Rossi of thinking suicide as he didn't know what to write for Quo, and the first covers album, blah, blah, blah, so why this album came? Also with Virgin, a label Quo ever touched.

I think that Quo weren’t signed to any label at that time (I stand to be corrected on that), so I don’t understand why Virgin would offer Francis a solo deal and not offer Quo a deal. Maybe this deal was a tax write off for Virgin records.

I really can't stand the album or any songs from it, which is why I don't own it, but I'm glad Quo never recorded it.

Maybe this deal was a tax write off for Virgin records. I think they still were under the Polydor/Phonogram/Polygram/Whatever name from that company, as the Whatever you Want comp was released in 97, and Rossi's album was released in 96. Maybe the solo contract was to test the waters to sign with Virgin.

The only song off the album i like is this one, and it's pretty bland at best:

I don't remember any of these songs at all. I did try hard to like the album at the time and gave it plenty of listens

I haven’t heard these in nigh on 30 years. They’re both terrible. Just awful. Farty weird brass and swan whistle guitar solos. What even is this.
I did like Blue water a lot when it came out. But it’s so long ago I probably wouldn’t now as my tastes have changed

Anyway, I wish he had included a couple of the songs from it when he toured solo - Darlin' in particular, I think would have worked live. From what I recall reading at the time of release, Francis and Tony McAnaney had been friends for years and the project came from being sat together strumming after a few drinks one night. Then later I think the problem Francis had was that he went back out with Quo and felt the album was 'rushed' through in his absence and needed more time/work before release.
