I think was it Rhino that said in a recent interview that it isn't out of the way to say Quo won't be recording another studio album.
It's hard to imagine Backbone as the last album, and it certainly wasn't billed as being the last.
Are we witnessing the end?

Who knows in pop music. Given the age the oldest 3 members are now and the way the music business releases music it is highly unlikely. Francis has got into doing these small shows and the others apart from Andy have their own projects running. Releasing albums these days isn’t overly cost effective unless you are an Ed Sheeran or of that ilk. Backbone was some kind of wonderful accident really and was an unexpected organic thing and if it is to be the last one then a good way to end their recording career as a band. Having the final song called “Running out of time” is pretty apt too. I am sure they will keep doing odd shows until Francis can’t physically do it anymore.

It's quite possible that the last thing ever recorded by Status Quo will be 'Saving All Over The Store'.
What a way to bow out.

Every single time Francis records an album he says he didn’t want to and then that the experience was enjoyable. I’d love them to do one more album. Hackney diamonds was excellent and I enjoyed Power Up. Come on frame.

I have my suspicions we've had the last one. Last studio album of original material anyway. But you can never say never. Rhino has just used up all the material he had and most of that would have been considered unsuitable for Quo anyway. But Francis always has stuff. He never seems to stop writing and composing. Although I wonder how much of it would be equally unsuitable for Quo. Andrew has been very quiet but then he usually is. If we get one, great. Put it this way, there is at least a marketing angle for it if they promote it as their last one. The long goodbye, as it were. 1984-2024; 40 years exactly since they packed it all in

Well, I belive Chuck recorded an album aged 90
But it seems unlikely. Especially now that Francis seems to be managing the band
I think the most dosh to be made now is from the tunes and chat format. No manager taking commission. No band to pay and no roadies

No manager taking commission. No band to pay and no roadies I have this strange naivety that maybe they might do it just for the sheer artistic pleasure instead of having one eye on the profit and loss account. We know it's expensive. We know it won't make any money. But don't you just fancy doing it because you might enjoy it? If you don't enjoy it - and I think Rhino hinted at that - then stay well clear.
